Reports to: Executive Chef/ Assistant Director Food and Beverage

Rate of Pay: Competitive pay based on Experience $15-18+ negotiable starting wage dependent upon experience.

General Purpose: We are seeking a reliable, motivated, energetic chef with a passion for food and service! The ideal candidate may be considered a foodie by some but possesses a real passion for creating visually tempting and exquisitely tasteful dishes. Seeking a candidate who desires to learn all the latest trends while honing their craft. This individual must work well solo or with additional kitchen staff to prepare, cook and present food for &More by Sheraton and all Food and Banquet outlets. While maintaining the Health Department and Sheraton’s high standards of food safety and guest satisfaction.

Overall responsibilities:

  • Based on forecasts and prep lists created by the Executive Chef, prepare and organize the “mise en place” for the &More and Veiled Bar line cooks
  • Support line cooks during peak volume hours
  • Communicate and coordinate with servers so that hotel can deliver great experiences to the guest
  • Banquet production and support as directed by Executive Chef

Specific responsibilities:

  • Maintain sanitation and food safety in kitchen and service areas to a high “A” standard
  • Review prep lists, inspect kitchens and produce all mise en place for efficient line cook execution. Initial concept is for a speed rack for & More, and one or two speed racks for Veiled Bar, this will evolve as business levels increase
  • Prioritize tasks by need, time sensitivity and efficiency
  • Always be sensitive to temperature, production dates, proper storage
  • Safe food handling is always practiced and coached
  • Based on operational needs, review banquet prep lists, coordinate with Executive Chef to produce necessary items in accordance with hotel recipes and presentation needs
  • Utilize log book and communication practices
  • Mindful of special product handling needs (high value product, prevent spoilage)
  • Support service staff in product knowledge and delivery of guest experience

Previous experience required

  • 2 years in full service (not just fast food) kitchen
  • Prep and line cooking (to include all basic cooking and knife skills, knowledge of sanitation and food safety practices)

  • Ideally, someone that is looking at this position for at least a few years, if not necessarily a career
  • Work ethic, pride in performance
  • Experience in a chain restaurant such as Olive Garden, Maggiano’s...they have great foundational training programs for novice cooks entering the industry

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
