Position Highlights
The Department of Emergency Medicine is recruiting a Research Data Support Specialist I to support clinical research conducted by University of Arizona faculty. The selected individual will specialize in receiving, coding, reviewing, entering, cleaning, and reconciling research data. The selected individual will participate in consent of potential participants. Additional clinical research activities will include coordination with other clinical research staff, the creation and population of databases and interactions with the faculty members leading the research activities.

As a condition of the work location, the selected incumbent must comply with Banner policies and procedures, including but not limited to COVID-19 vaccination requirements.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Conduct data entry and validation to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance of the data collection process.
  • Maintain detailed records.
  • Prepare for and participate in monitor visits, audits, and quality reviews (internal and external) in a professional manner.
  • Collaborate effectively with others to ensure proper progress and completion of studies.
  • Maintain awareness of status of all active studies.
  • Identify potentially eligible participants.
  • Conduct pre-consent screening procedures according to protocol specifications to determine eligibility.
  • Execute the informed consent process according to Good Clinical Practices (GCP), procedures and other applicable policies.
  • Document in applicable systems (tracking, electronic health, etc.) participants approached, screened, and enrolled in the study.
  • Compose clear, precise, and detailed correspondence.
  • Develop a rapport with study participants.
  • Communicate study related issues to investigators, sponsors, coordinating centers, study coordinators, clinical team, managers, and other institutions in a timely fashion.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to learn and use new software.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent learning attained through experience is required.
  • Prior work experience not required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with research protocols, development and regulations.

  • Experience using Cerner.

  • Experience using RedCap.

  • Spanish speaking.
