Position Summary

The Java Technical Architect primarily contributes to the activities of development staff that perform technical systems analysis, design, development, and maintenance activities in support of business systems. The role’s focus will be in application development, modernization and re-engineering with an eye on future. The individual possesses advanced technical and business knowledge and skills in information management techniques, structured system development methodologies, and software development tools.

Essential Job Functions:

• Lead and assist in the services and activities of development staff assigned to the team.
• Provide service technical design based on architecture standards, high-level solution design, guidelines, and usage patterns ensuring security, scalability and supportability.
• Define static analysis code quality rules to evaluate microservices code.
• Ensure that the morale, productivity, training, quality of work and discipline of the staff is at an effective level
• Develop on-prem, cloud-based & hybrid implementation strategies for microservices and microservice API.
• Provide feedback and guidance to all design work
• Perform quality control functions as it relates to development work to ensure that the work product meets and exceeds established business standards and practices
• Maintain communication between the development staff and the solution architect or scrum master.
• Set team standards in utilizing programming tools and techniques
• Perform other duties as assigned

Position Requirements:

• 2+ years of Development Lead experience.
• Outstanding knowledge and strong experience with Java and appropriate frameworks (Spring, Spring Boot, etc.).
• Extensive experience with multi-tier, distributed event-driven architecture.
• Excellent object-oriented programming skills.
• Excellent knowledge and strong experience with AWS services.
• Good knowledge of containerization tools and technologies (RedHat OpenShift Docker, Kubernetes).
• Strong proficiency with notification and messaging queue solutions (Kafka, AWS SNS, AWS SQS).
• Excellent knowledge of API development platforms (Apigee, AWS API Gateway).
• Strong proficiency with SQL and NoSQL DBMS (e.g.: SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis, MongoDB), procedural and object oriented development.
• Good understanding of DevOps processes and CI/CD tools.
• Solid understanding of microservice design, REST based microservice API, application frameworks and system integration methods, major design patterns (CQRS, SAGA, circuit breaker, etc.)
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Candidate must be able to work independently on assigned projects
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills required
• Experience with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
• Demonstrate company core values of excellence, ownership, collaboration, and integrity

Preferred:

• SQL development experience
• Good knowledge of Linux
• .NET experience
