The Kinder Morgan CO2 business unit is currently seeking a Drilling and Workover Project Coordinator to support procurement and vendor maintenance activities for drilling and workover operations in the Permian Basin, Southwest Colorado, and other locations where Kinder Morgan CO2 may operate. The Drilling and Workover Project Coordinator will work with the drilling and workover team to ensure that materials and services meet safety, compliance, financial, and performance objectives.

The Kinder Morgan CO2 business unit is currently seeking a Drilling and Workover Project Coordinator to support procurement and vendor maintenance activities for drilling and workover operations in the Permian Basin, Southwest Colorado, and other locations where Kinder Morgan CO2 may operate. The Drilling and Workover Project Coordinator will work with the drilling and workover team to ensure that materials and services meet safety, compliance, financial, and performance objectives.


The Kinder Morgan CO2 business unit is a supplier of CO2 and an operator of enhanced oil recovery projects in West Texas. Its operations include a large CO2 source field, an extensive CO2 transmission and delivery system, and production operations in large existing CO2 floods.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Represent Kinder Morgan CO2 as a safety leader providing leadership in vendor and procurement activities.
  • Manages drilling/workover service contracts, develops work scopes, and initiates Requests for Materials and Requests for Proposals.
  • Manages OCTG purchasing, inventory, and standards.
  • Qualifies vendors via Fit for Purpose, safety, experience, location, and expertise metrics.
  • Supports bidding efforts with engineering, operations, and procurement staff.
  • Prepares documents for review and initiates communication with procurement for execution.
  • Prepares and solicits mock invoices to account for total spend and set expectations with vendors.
  • Maintains first call and second call rates for service providers.
  • Negotiates contested invoices and ensures rate correctness.
  • Organizes bid data and maintains records for audit purposes.
  • Conducts weekly MSA verifications, insurance expiry, and vendor risk level reviews using ISNetworld and resolves issues.
  • Provides cost control support to the Drilling and Workover team which include, but is not limited to, cost reporting, PO and Change Order tracking, invoice tracking, budget comparison, and forecasting.
  • Be an effective communicator with on-site, office, and contractor personnel by relaying safety directions, operational targets, and giving constructive feedback.
  • Recommend options to improve safety, solve operational challenges, and increase efficiency to the team.
  • Anticipate challenges and provide timely, safe, and cost effective solutions.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
  • Job level will be determined based on the skills and experience of the candidate

Position Requirements


  • Ability and willingness to learn, discover, compare, and recommend wellwork equipment and services to the team.
  • Oilfield terminology, well construction, practical field knowledge preferred.
  • Inside/outside sales experience with an upstream drilling oilfield services provider.
  • Research and source unexpected items when needed to support 24/7 operations.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to field locations and vendor offices.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate both technically and verbally with all levels of staff up to and including upper management and outside business units.
  • Be able to handle multiple tasks; excellent planning, organization, and time management skills.
  • Ability to contribute and work in a team environment, take direction from a supervisor, and prioritize work schedules.
  • Ability to plan and execute project milestones and deadlines.
  • Proven track record of implementing new processes.
  • Proficient in MS Office Software and highly proficient in organizing data from multiple sources.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • PowerBi, Spotfire, or other data visualization tools.
