The Director of Operations (DO) is the business operations leader for The PATH School and is responsible for executing all non-instructional school functions so that the instructional team can maintain a concentrated focus on teaching and student achievement and can maximize instructional time. The DO ensures that The PATH School is managed with operational excellence and fiscal prudence by creating, refining and implementing policies and systems while upholding the values of The PATH School. The DO works to create a culture of service, support, respect and achievement. The DO is committed to our common goals, mutual respect, empathy towards others, and an appreciation of diversity. The DO is a critical thinker and innovative problem solver with a high level of emotional intelligence.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Identify specific operating requirements and ensure that The PATH School has systems to ensure compliance in finance, enrollment, food program, human resources, and facilities
- Create (with a partner) and maintain a compliance dashboard to ensure that The PATH School is led with operational excellence
- Maintain accounting and management processes with OEI and accounting
- Lead annual SBOA Audit
- Create systems and processes to manage contracts and vendors; serve as the point of contact for all vendor relationships
- Maintain and monitor federal grants
- Utilize Quickbooks to input financial transactions and process checks
- Coach and support School Operations Manager to develop and implement school-wide non-instructional systems including PowerSchool and procedures that ensure operational excellence within the school. Systems include but are not limited to Transportation, Safety, National School Lunch Program, procurement, compliance tracking, and budget management.
- Maintain and direct the Operations Team to support work in the food program, enrollment facilities, IT, and HR
- Partner closely with Executive Team to ensure the execution of the organization’s strategic plan
- Support other senior leadership to establish policies for promotions and compensation
- Provide strategic guidance to vendors when working collaboratively with the organization’s mission, vision, and goals
- Make amendments to federal budgets and maintain school-wide budget
- Ensure ethical bookkeeping and accounting procedures are followed
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree and/or Master’s Degree with a focus on accounting or business
- 5+ years of professional experience in operations, strategy, and/or complex projects, preferably in an educational organization
- Management experience preferred
- Experience, creating monitoring, and maintaining adaptable cross-functional systems that enhance organizational efficiency and that can adapt to the needs of multiple operating requirements
- Experience managing multiple critical deadlines and adapting quickly and confidently in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to collaborate effectively with representatives from all levels of the organization, including board members
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Quickbooks and the ability to quickly learn new applications
EXPECTATIONS
- Ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis, Monday - Friday
- Minimal travel required
