This position is located full time in Chattanooga, TN, in the heart of the industrial area that keeps Adorama, an employer of choice, for all levels of staff at this facility. The Chattanooga facility is the company’s largest at 230,000 square feet!

Job Summary

The shipping manager oversees and coordinates the activities of the team responsible for packing and shipping products for same-day shipping both nationally and internationally. A successful shipping manager must be a strong communicator and problem solver who is jointly focused on quality and productivity to ensure all packages are ship before the deadline.

Who’s on the team?

This position is directly responsible for the Shipping Supervisor, team lead, and 33 warehouse associates. During peak season, staff may increase from 33 to 90 hourly members.

What will you do?

  • Determine daily plan, balance workload, and prepare schedules to expedite workflow.
  • Solve problems that arise daily and show flexibility and ingenuity to hit the department’s SLAs.
  • Supports project teams in-process quality activities by educating, coaching, and mentoring others on process improvement philosophy, tools, and application.
  • Make decisions quickly in a stressful environment while keeping a focus on what is in the best interest of customers.
  • Coordinate with Customer Service and respond via email, phone, and verbally to questions and complaints regarding packages, orders, and shipments.
  • Ensure correct shipment of national, international, and hazardous material orders by following legal regulations and company policies.
  • Assign duties and examine work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for tracking department labor hours according to the yearly budget
  • Study and standardize processes and procedures to improve the efficiency and accuracy of workers.
  • Coordinate with other departments, such as picking, inventory management, and quality assurance, to ensure the achievement of daily goals.
  • Maintain harmony among workers and resolve labor issues to keep turnover within department low
  • Track and document employees’ attendance and performance compared to department metrics.
  • Identify and reward employees’ strengths and develop their opportunities with regular coaching and counseling to improve negative performance.
  • Conduct annual performance reviews.
  • Interview and hire new employees.

What you bring!

  • Supply chain management experience with a minimum of 3 years managing a large staff, including responsibility for hiring, terminating, and appraising performance.
  • Experience developing Budgets, Safety Management, Developing Standards, Managing Processes, Surveillance Skills, Inventory Control, Reporting Skills, Analyzing Information, and Judgment
  • Experience working with UPS, FedEx, or other carriers
  • Ecommerce industry background
  • Knowledge using material handling equipment (plus)
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

  • Monday 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM or until job is completed
  • Tuesday through Thursday 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM or until job is completed
  • Fridays 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM or until job is completed
  • Saturday off
  • Sundays will be required to work only during peak season or special closings during the workweek

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00 per year
