Georgia Military College – Main Campus announces the immediate opening for a full-time Tactical Officer (TAC) position reporting directly to the GMC Deputy Commandant of Cadets. TACs are overall responsible for the health, welfare, good order, and discipline of the Corps of Cadets utilizing a teach, coach, and mentor method of engagement. TACs provide oversight to cadet battalion leadership teams to develop/execute battalion-level training and are the lead for managing all cadet administrative functions. This position monitors study habits, and academic standards/progress, counsels, and provides guidance and support as needed. Additional areas of responsibility include character/leader development, discipline, cadet accountability, uniform/room/barracks standards and maintenance, safety, and retention. TACs are prepared to participate in the Corps of Cadets' physical fitness program and work some weekends as required (with prior coordination). Current TACs shifts are Sunday thru Thursday 2:30 pm to 11:30 pm / Monday thru Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 / Tuesday thru Saturday from 11:00 pm to 8:00 am. Specific TAC shifts will be discussed during the selection/interview process. Also, able to execute other duties as assigned by the Commandant of Cadets.


Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Oversee all cadet administrative processes, maintain accountability, enforce all Corps of Cadets policies/directives and ensure the health and welfare of the cadets.
  • Manage cadet disciplinary program to ensure standards are maintained and cadets engaged in the process.
  • Work with Deputy Commandant to ensure cadets are administratively qualified to attend/remain at GMC.
  • Conduct maintenance inspections of Baugh Barracks and provide reports to the housing administrator on a periodic basis.
  • Develop cadet training schedules, monitor academic performance, and conduct performance counseling on cadets as required.
  • Teach, coach, and mentor cadets in inspection techniques for uniform/room inspections.
  • Conduct cadet training to include but not limited to significant training events, Dining-In, White Water Rafting, Daily Physical Fitness, Obstacle Courses, Rappel Operations, Leadership Reaction courses, etc.
  • Use problem-solving to help cadets establish priorities of work to accomplish tasks assigned.

Georgia Military College employees must enroll in direct deposit as the institution does not issue paychecks.   • Criminal background check and drug screen must be cleared before any candidate may begin working.

Required:

  • Wear Army military uniforms or Service equivalent on a daily basis.
  • Completed at least one enlistment and received an honorable discharge upon completion of enlistment.
  • High School Diploma
  • Proficient in the use of information technology and business systems, including Microsoft Office.
  • Able to participate in Physical Fitness sessions.


Preferred:

  • At least 10-years of experience in the military with significant leadership positions such as Section Sergeant, Squad Leader, Platoon Sergeant, First Sergeant or higher positions within the military…Drill Sergeant experience would be a plus.
  • Associates Degree or higher.
