OBON Sushi Bar Ramen is currently looking for an upbeat Sushi Chef to become part of the family at our Scottsdale location at The Grove.

Responsible for preparing different types of sushi. Manages the ingredients handling and preparation. Maintains a deep understanding of which ingredients taste well together and serving specialty sushi dishes to provide a rich and distinct Asian dining experience to attract more customers and increase sales.

Responsibilities

• Preparing traditional Japanese sushi rice, chopping, slicing, and filleting various kinds of fish, and placing orders for supplies as needed.
• Expertly cutting, slicing, and filleting different types of fish.
• Inspecting the quality of fruits, vegetables, and fish used to prepare sushi dishes and informing the supervisor when quality is sub-standard.
• Preparing various types of sushi dishes according to established guidelines on quality, portion size, presentation, and food safety.
• Maintaining a clean work environment in order to prevent food contamination.
• Regularly taking inventory of food supplies and other products.
• Reporting any problems with kitchen equipment to the manager on duty.
• Sterilizing all utensils, instruments, and equipment used in sushi preparation before every use.
• Communicating with wait staff to ensure that special requests and food allergy considerations are met.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

• Ability to work under pressure and perform multiple tasks during the shift.

Working Conditions

• Long periods of standing on hard surfaces, walking, lifting and working in heat conditions.
• Constant exposure to hot equipment throughout the work day and noise in the work area.
• Constant need to lift / carry materials and other supplies with little physical effort.
• The use of hands and arms to reach for, handle, feel, grasp, and manipulate objects is required.
• Occasional Light Work in order to carry, move, push o pull materials or equipment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
