Supervising Engineer (Seattle)

compensation: $68-92K/yr, DOE, DOQ, plus benefits and bonuses

Hardworking and self-starting supervising engineer position for a privately owned and operated Seattle company with commercial properties in Seattle and Puget Sound. The ideal candidate has a successful history of supervisory experience, training, mentoring, as well as performing skilled work and is an effective communicator. This supervisor should be easy to work with, maintains a positive attitude, enjoys life, is fun, has a disciplined work ethic and is able to train that in those he supervises. General duties may include:

  • Oversee and perform maintenance/repairs on various properties as needed, reporting and monitoring work orders.
  • Train and oversee contracted services and specialized repairs.
  • Mentoring and coaching new hires.
  • Familiarity with servicing different building heating/cooling systems.
  • Perform scheduled and routine maintenance, ranging from light bulbs checks to mechanical equipment inspection and repair daily.
  • Monitor work performed by outside contractors and teach effective ways for others to do the same.
  • Maintain monthly inspections, maintenance of building systems (for example, HVAC), perform regular safety/training meetings.
  • Complete special projects and additional responsibilities as assigned such as drywall repair/installation, painting, electrical, plumbing, flooring, and ground.
  • Performs work and oversight on multiple sites in area, a central workspace to be provided with technology to assist in reaching different sites and a small staff/team of 5 others.

Qualifications:

  • Vocational or other educational training and ten years maintenance and supervisory experience including the knowledge and ability to perform HVAC, flooring, plumbing, painting, mechanical, electrical, and vehicle maintenance. HVAC experience is desired.
  • Valid driver's license and insurance. Prime candidates will also be easily insurable, bondable and have a clean driving record.
  • Have the ability to deal responsibly with security and emergency procedures, equipment and are willing to share responsibility for 24 hour emergency on-call and response duties.
  • Ability to train, supervise and communicate effectively with others and to work with others.
  • Able to both establish and follow written and oral instructions and communicate effectively using Word, Excel, Outlook and email.
  • Able to work independently, pay attention to detail, assess priorities and work well under pressure.
  • Ability to coach, mentor and address performance issues professionally.
  • Ability to manage time and priorities as well as exercising analytical skills to solve problems. Ability to teach and help manage the time of others.
  • Has reliable transportation and tools for performing basic maintenance responsibilities. Tools are available at the respective properties for site specific needs.
  • Physical requirements for essential duties may include: standing/walking for prolonged periods of time, ability to lift up to 75lbs, climb ladders and work at heights, use hand tools and work outdoors in all types of weather.
