With approximately 65,000 admissions per year and 10,000 average daily population, the NYC jail system is among the largest in the nation. The Division of Correctional Health Services (CHS) of New York City Health + Hospitals (H+H) is responsible for the delivery of medical care, mental health care, and discharge planning in the jail system. Approximately 25% of new admissions per year to the NYC jail system will receive care on the mental health service. This service strives to provide safe, holistic and evidence-based therapeutic interventions for the diverse range of mental health issues that face the population, from serious mental illness to the natural struggles that accompany incarceration. The service provides some of the most comprehensive and unique treatment modalities in the country, including specialty housing units for individuals with serious mental illness, a 24-hour on-call psychiatric service, robust creative arts programming, a strong DBT training proram, clinics in each of the facilities, substance use treatment, integrated re-entry services, and relationships with multiple training institutions throughout the city.
Under the supervision of the Director of Materials Management will be responsible for the medical surgical supplies to all facilities. This position will review for expired items and will be responsible for ordering and delivery of supplies

Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for the ordering/delivering/stocking of medical surgical supplies to all facilities. Must rotate stock routinely for expired items.
  • Responsible for the ordering of standard stationary/delivering supplies to all facilities.
  • Must be sure that par level rooms are adequately stocked at all times. Responsible for reporting any outages/shortages in par level rooms to supervisor.
  • Responsible for picking up controlled drugs/medications from the Packaging department and delivering to all facilities.
  • Responsible for delivering all new capital equipment (medical/furniture) from Materials Management to all facilities. Must be able to lift at least 100 pounds.
  • Responsible for removing capital equipment deemed salvage from all facilities for proper disposable as per contract.
  • In conjunction with the Medical Records department, transports medical records from all facilities to CMRA (Central Medical Records Archiving).
  • Along with DOH Warehouse, conducts inventories of all medical surgical par level rooms as required by the contract twice per year.
CHS Warehouse, Tues-Saturday, 2pm - 10pm

Qualifications:

  • High School or equivalency diploma.
  • Knowledge of inventory and ordering of supplies.
  • Strong written and communication skills.
  • Driver's license required (in good standing).
