Job Summary

The social media specialist will manage the social media platforms of Global Ministries, implementing social communications strategies and campaigns that attract audiences, increase engagement, drive web traffic, and enhance the marketing and communication efforts of the agency. The social media specialist will track and measure performance, integrating best practices and using appropriate tools that help enhance GBGM’s online profile. The social media specialist will also assist in developing content and work on communications efforts related to U.S. and international disaster response efforts.


Essential Job Functions

  • Collaborate with communications and agency colleagues to develop, deploy, and measure social media campaigns and posts that enhance audience engagement, reach new audiences, drive web traffic, and enhance overall agency marketing and communication efforts. Monitor, identify and cultivate influencers within social media platforms for strategic cultivation, resharing and tagging posts, as appropriate.
  • Assist in crafting content in support of broader content creation strategies and work on communications efforts related to international and domestic disaster response.
  • Develop and maintain a social media content calendar that works in concert with the agency content calendar.
  • Monitor engagement results on all social platforms, reporting monthly on trends and insights. Recommend and implement data-driven strategy refinements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • BA/BS.
  • At least 3 years of experience using social media tools required.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience with marketing or communications.


Competencies, Job Requirements and Other Specialized Knowledge

  • Strategize the most effective strategies to engage audiences, boost engagement, drive web traffic and enhance marketing and communication efforts using social media platforms.
  • Create unique and accurate content that will be posted and shared on social media accounts for informational and educational purposes.
  • Measure and monitor engagement.
  • Strong knowledge of social media.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite CC including but not limited to Acrobat Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator, Dream Weaver, After Effects and Premiere; social Media apps and tools: Facebook, Twitter, bitly, Instagram, YouTube, and Canva; and web-based form creation.
  • Knowledge of AP manual of style.
  • Must possess strong writing and editing skills and be able to accurately edit own work.


The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate must have excellent attention to detail. Be a proactive self-starter by identifying opportunities and executing with excellence while sharing information with the team proactively. Strong listening and communication skills both verbally and in writing. The candidate must be able to demonstrate strong video editing skills with the ability to synthesize and communicate complex information.


Work Hours and Conditions

  • FLSA Status: F/T Exempt
  • Location: Remote
  • Hours: 9:00am – 5:00pm (Monday – Friday with flexible start/end time) - Evening and weekend work/meetings as necessary, particularly during peak unit season.
  • May require work outside of standard business hours (to include weekends), particularly during peak unit season.
  • Sedentary office/computer/keyboarding/meeting work for extended periods of time.
  • Travel as required.
