Compensation and Benefits:
  • Compensation: Starting pay rate of $26.00, actual wage will be adjusted based on experience.

Job Summary:

With direction from the Snowmaking Manager and Supervisor, Snowmaking Operations Foremen are responsible for overseeing all snowmaking activities on a designated shift during both winter and summer months. During winter operations foremen are responsible for training, supervising and directing all snowmakers as well as checking on progress and completed work, ensuring that the snow plan is being executed as safely and efficiently as possible. During the summer months, operations foreman oversee construction projects, assign tasks to crew members and assist in the interviewing and hiring process. Operations foremen assist with certain administrative tasks when necessary, such as safety training and documentation, shift logs and scheduling.

Summary of Key Responsibilities:
Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
  • Plan, supervise and coordinate the implementation of the current snow plan, including all operations of a designated shift
  • Supervise, directly and indirectly, a staff of 10 - 20 snowmaking foremen, hill chiefs, snowmakers, and control room operators
  • Assist in interviewing/advising on hiring, training new employees in technical aspects of job as well as operating policies and procedures
  • Plan and issue daily work assignments
  • Monitor work in progress and check completed work
  • Assist with performance evaluations, bring special personnel problems to the attention of supervisor, assist in planning staffing needs and work schedules
  • Inspect all trails, snowmaking equipment and pipes on a regular basis throughout shift
  • Ensure that goals of snow plan are being met
  • Assist with regular operations and handle issues that may arise
  • Monitor the snowmaking system on a continuous basis. Includes water consumption and availability in relation to usable pumps, air consumption and availability, and ensuring that snowmaking is carried out at top capacity
  • Prepare various administrative/operations reports and records
  • Ensure that proper safety procedures are followed by all crews
  • Supervise the proper use and maintenance of equipment, supplies, vehicles, and keys used in snowmaking operations
  • Assist in planning and administration of snowmaking operating budget, with a focus on monitoring personnel and equipment expenditures
  • Confer regularly with immediate supervisor and other company personnel/departments to plan, coordinate, and evaluate services/activities/projects, includes coordinating and supervising outside contractors
  • Provide superior service to our customers (internal and external) at all times. Follow the Resort Etiquette Guidelines while interacting with the guests and respond to all guests in a courteous, efficient manner
  • Perform other tasks as assigned
Requirements:
Basic Qualifications:
  • Able to perform in severe or inclement outdoor conditions for sustained periods
  • Able to lift 75 lbs
  • Valid driver's license

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience, leading and supervising others
  • Snowmaking experience (Preferred, but will train the right candidate)
  • Summer Snowmaking expansion experience (Preferred, but will train the right candidate)
  • Red Cross first Aid experience (Preferred, but will train the right candidate)
  • Must be in good physical condition
  • Mechanical aptitude
