A day in the life of a Senior Cost Accountant:

The Studio Build Senior Cost Accountant will focus on assisting in the implementation of cost accounting processes and procedures within the new Studio Build division of Amherst Homes, which focuses on the modular construction of homes. This includes but is not limited to processing, tracking, reconciling, and reporting of financial and inventory transactions. This position will report to the Manufacturing Controller.

• Assist the Controller in the implementation of manufacturing ERP system requirements for inventory, costing and procurement processes and procedures.
• Monitor, maintain and track variances on Production orders, Bills of Materials and Routings.
• Reconcile Inventory (Raw Materials, WIP & Finished Goods) and input physical inventory counts into the Inventory system
• Standard costing updates and monitoring
• Job cost tracking and reporting
• Track and investigate production and material variances
• Assist the Controller in the development and roll-out of KPI reporting
• Track Labor spending and assist in the development of Direct Labor standards by workstation
• Track and review direct & indirect overhead costs at the plant level and assist in the development of the overhead rates,
• Categorization and tracking of direct versus indirect costs and prepare Contribution Margin statements.
• Assist in annual audit providing supporting documentation
• Ad hoc reporting and process documentation
• Other duties as assigned

What you’ll need to have:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting
• 5+ years of cost accounting experience in multiple manufacturing environments
• A mix of general accounting and cost accounting experience ideal
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of products
• Proficiency with ERP systems
• Experience in manufacturing required
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Self-starter attitude and ability to work with limited direction
