Primary Purpose and Function

The Teacher’s primary purpose is to provide academic instruction during the week to Muir Wood residents, collaborate with residents’ home schools and parents, and actively participate in the treatment team as a member of the Muir Wood residential treatment program.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Current State of California teaching credential
• Two years’ experience in teaching in a classroom setting (preferably in a special education setting)
• Strong written and communication skills
• Ability to function as part of a treatment team

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:

1. Completes education evaluation in a timely manner.
2. Develops education plan for each resident of Muir Wood in collaboration with the residents’ home school instructors and school district.
3. Completes weekly progress report for parents/authorized representative on clients.
4. Informs Clinical Director and treatment team of all behavioral problems and documents in the residents’ file.
5. Participates in educational and cultural outings for residents.
6. Administration of state-of-the-art assessments to develop current level of achievement, ability to learn, and strengths of each resident.
7. Assistance with ACT/SAT preparation and coordination of online courses (when appropriate.)
8. Ability to provide individual tutoring to residents in need of 1:1 educational needs.
9. Participation in weekly treatment team meeting and weekly staff meeting, when appropriate.
10. Supervises other Muir Wood teachers and tutors including performing competency assessments, evaluations, counseling (when needed).
11. Involved in the interview and hiring of new teachers and tutors.
12. Works collaboratively with Muir Wood’s WASC specialist to insure WASC compliance and accreditation.
13. Performs other duties that may be required from time to time and as instructed by Clinical Director.

14. Works collaboratively with student’s home school and teachers to insure that curriculum is obtained and students are maintained in their home school studies.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $37.63 per hour
