Job Summary
The Safety coordinator serves to support the successful implementation of the company Safety Programs. Administering DOT compliance, record keeping, reporting, training, filling, and auditing. The safety administrator provides support to the Safety Department, and field operations.
Coordinator Responsibilities:
· Maintain Driver Qualification files and other appropriate records for all DOT regulated and company drivers, to ensure compliance
· Manage and process potential candidate applicants in Tenstreet or through various TPA’s.
· Monitor hours-of-service (HOS) records for accuracy, ELD compliance and maintain per DOT/Company requirements
· Assist with DOT and company drug & alcohol programs are compliant with regulations
· Provides reports on metrics, as requested
· View and monitor in-cab cameras for triggered events, and communication to appropriate parties
· Perform and maintain all annual DOT reports and records as required
· Assist with the assigning of employee training for new hires and retraining initiatives
· Maintain and implement all safety processes
· Communicate, Identify, and evaluate unsafe driving conditions, opportunities. and practices to help manage and control Fleet and Safety procedures and costs.
· Assist with the continued development of existing safety program and driver qualification process.
· Assist Safety Department as needed
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Intermediate knowledge of Word/Excel/PowerPoint
· Working knowledge of Federal and State Safety laws, particularly FMCSA & OSHA standards, preferred
· Ability to listen effectively, demonstrate understanding, and clarify meaning for others
· Ability to analyze, define, diagnose, and resolve problems based on sound logic and rationale
· Ability to interact cooperatively and collaboratively with others as a team, including those holding opposing view and goals.
· Tenstreet, ELD, and Telematics experience preferred
· Looking for someone who is self-motivated and detail-oriented
Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:
· Transportation and or safety management experience, preferred
· Previous experience with DOT audits and reviews, preferred
· Working knowledge of ELD’s & internal compliance systems, preferred
· Experience with onboard cameras and accident mitigation systems, preferred
· Valid driver license, drug test and background check required
Physical Requirements:
· Regular lift and or move up to 10 pounds, and up to 30 pounds occasionally
· Ability to sit at desk for extended periods
· Read and write work-related documents in English
· Constantly communicate and receive written and verbal communication with other employees in a fast-paced environment
· Move about to accomplish task, particularly frequent movements from place to place, lift, carry, reach/extend arms and hands above shoulder height frequently, or otherwise move
