Risk Engineer - Target Segments Job at Crum & Forster
Role/Description: Risk Consultant:
We are looking for an innovative and talented individual with safety and risk management experience to provide a high level of service to our policyholders and underwriters. The expectation is for this position to provide risk management services for all types of risks written through the Target Segments division of Crum & Forster, which includes groceries, restaurants, propane, petroleum, transportation, assisted living, and many types of agricultural businesses. It is preferred to have a candidate who has worked in or with one or more industry specialties; such as, propane, petroleum, transportation, food/grocery, or agribusiness industries.
Primary Location:
This position will currently service the states of Idaho, Oregon, Washington, and Alaska and is preferred to have a person living within this territory and working remotely.
What you will do:
- Perform complete risk evaluations and job site visits to identify client exposures and evaluate controls
- Develop effective service plans to assist with improving policyholder’s risk management programs
- Monitor loss activity and develop and sell the importance of appropriate risk management tools to prevent recurrence of accidents.
- Develop and conduct safety presentations at conferences, conventions, associations, and industry related groups.
- Work with underwriting to retain existing accounts and obtain new business opportunities.
- Ensure that policyholders receive a valued service across all locations to satisfy policyholder and underwriter expectations.
- Work closely with Underwriting, Claims, and Producers to promote Risk Engineering and develop solutions for their needs.
- Stay current on existing laws and regulations, emerging technologies, and loss prevention practices.
What YOU will bring to C & F:
- A minimum of 5 years of loss prevention, risk management, safety leadership experience.
- An understanding of the principles and implementation of safety and risk management.
- A working knowledge and practice OSHA and DOT regulations.
- Preferred Safety or Risk Management Designation (i.e. ASP, CSP, ALCM,CIH, OHST)
- Inquisitive thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Social skills to develop business relationships with customers, peers, and industry contacts.
- Skills to develop conduct safety presentations for policyholders and other company events.
- Discipline to work remotely, efficiently, and complete work on time.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Travel by vehicle or airplane.
- Ability to travel up to 40% of business time.
