This position is a "live in" position and is located at one of Hearth’s congregate housing sites in Jamaica Plain, located on Burroughs Street. A furnished room with heat, hot water and electricity is provided as part of the position along with a stipend of $150/biweekly.
The home houses 14 residents and provides supportive housing services as needed or requested. In congregate housing, residents share bathrooms as well as common living areas and kitchen spaces.

The Overnight Staff Person is not responsible for the care of the residents or the property, but to respond to any emergencies at the site and on behalf of the residents.

The Overnight Staff Person is an employee of Hearth, and as such must abide by all Hearth personnel policies as a condition of employment. On call hours are typically 10pm-8am 7 days/week.

A. Duties and Responsibilities

• Respond to all verbal, telephone, and alarm calls for assistance from tenants or staff and provide immediate assistance to all emergency problems which pose a health or safety hazard to the residents.
• Place telephone calls to emergency medical, mental health, maintenance, and/or program staff when necessary; and assist with the access of building by emergency service personnel.
• Maintain a written log of all overnight emergency incidents (including the dates, time of the incidents and time spent responding to each incident), and providing the log as soon as possible to the supervisor.
• Perform other emergency tasks as directed by the supervisor or as determined by the Overnight Staff Person, which, in the Overnight Staff Person’s judgement are required to avert a potential health and/or safety hazard to Hearth program tenants.

B. Compensation and Benefits

It is specifically acknowledged, understood and agreed to by the Overnight Staff Person that the compensation below represents reasonable compensation for all duties performed and for all time spent on-call.

Regular Compensation

In exchange for the services outlined above, Hearth will provide the Overnight Staff Person with the following Regular Compensation:

• Residency in a unit of 27 Burroughs Street, including the payment of heat, hot water and electricity;
• Hearth reserves the right to recognize changes in the fair market value of the apartment and associated amenities annually on the anniversary date of this agreement. It is anticipated that Regular Compensation, as described above, will cover all work actually performed each week.
• A stipend of $150.00 paid biweekly during the Overnight Staff Person’s employment in this position.
• An Overnight Staff Person shall be entitled to worker’s compensation, unemployment insurance and other benefits mandated by state and federal law, or specifically enumerated below.
• No additional benefits are provided to Overnight Staff Persons.
