Silver Lake Hospital of Newark, NJ is seeking to hire a full time Radiologic Technologist (RT-R-ARRT) to perform diagnostic radiographs for patients at our long-term acute care hospital. This position will be scheduled to work 5 days a week.


ABOUT SILVER LAKE HOSPITAL

Silver Lake Hospital is a long-term acute care hospital with a reputation of providing patients with a place to heal before heading home. A long-term acute care hospital (LTACH) is an acute care specialty hospital that provides highly advanced and focused care for higher acuity patients who have not responded to short-term treatment in traditional general hospitals. The average length of stay in an LTACH is 25 days as compared to a 3-5 day average stay in a general hospital. Our safe and state of the art hospital is designed to admit and care for the most critically ill patients.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
:

  • Performs procedures in compliance with NJ Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) standards and the principals of As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA).
  • Practice radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patients and staff.
  • Prepares and positions patients for diagnostic imaging procedures.
  • Explains procedures and process to patients.
  • Moves imaging equipment into the specified position; determines exposure factors based on height, weight, the portion of the body involved, and the degree of penetration required; and adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors and produce images of proper detail, density, and accuracy.
  • Performs specialized and routine diagnostic radiology procedures including daily QC.
  • Processes images and reviews them for proper identification and quality control.
  • Prepares images for reading by the radiologist or requesting physician.
  • Maintains required documentation pertaining to x-ray imaging.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certification - ARRT
  • NJ Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) Diagnostic Radiography license
  • One (1) year of experience in Diagnostic Radiology required. Two years or more of experience as an X-Ray Technologist in a hospital setting preferred.
  • Be able to work independently using portable CR and DR Imaging machines.
  • Valid BLS certification by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross is preferred.
  • Medical terminology and Anatomical skills required.
  • Must be willing to work holidays, weekends and provide additional coverage as needed
  • Demonstrates a commitment to service and professionalism at all times.

  • Ability to prioritize.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrates flexibility and reliability.

  • Basic knowledge in Microsoft Office and EMR systems required.


Hourly rates commensurate with experience.
