• Classes begin every 4-10 weeks.

• 18 month full-time work commitment post successful program completion
• Pass required background checks and English/math proficiency assessment completed during the interview process
• Be eligible for registration as a Pharmacy Technician Trainee within the Commonwealth of Virginia - per Board of Pharmacy Regulations. Please review Board of Pharmacy requirements for registration. Extensive background check is required.

The Pharmacy Technician-in-Training works under the functional supervision of a Lead Technician and Pharmacist to provide services to Pharmacy customers. The Pharmacy Technician-in-Training supports the Pharmacist in providing Pharmaceutical Care. The main areas of responsibility include one or more of the following: Medication Distribution, Sterile/Non-sterile Product Preparation, Inventory Control, Secretarial, and Control Drug Management.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Registration with the Virginia State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician Trainee prior to class commencement. Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification is required within 9 months of hire."

Submit a personal statement (approximately 250 words) describing interest in the program as part of the initial application for the position.
Candidates must demonstrate proficiency with the English language (reading, writing and speaking) and demonstrate math proficiency with an assessment completed during the interview.
Candidates must be eligible for registration as a Pharmacy Technician Trainee with the Virginia State Board of Pharmacy.
