The Marketing Specialist role will support with patient acquisition, engagement, and retention projects. The individual will be responsible for the development and deployment of key patient communications and collateral, with solid writing, editing, and proofreading skills. The ideal candidate thrives in a performance-driven environment and strives to improve processes to enhance collaboration and efficiency.

The Marketing Specialist must be a self-driven, highly organized multitasker able to handle many diverse projects at once and meet tight deadlines, show creativity in problem solving, and exhibit intense curiosity to learn, grow, and be a part of a stellar team.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assists in the development and execution of regional and site-based marketing
  • Learn and apply best practices that help optimize operational efficiency and improve the performance of marketing campaigns
  • Manage incoming project requests through integrated intake process
  • Support with development and execution of larger multi-channel regional, site-based programs targeted to patient prospects
  • Collaborate with multiple working teams and Regional stakeholders to identify and develop new processes to improve marketing efficiencies, and support marketing effectiveness and growth
  • Create, proofread, and edit copy and marketing assets for various marketing channels such as print, email, and direct mail, ensuring consistent and compliant messaging across online and offline platforms
  • Assist with developing content and managing email communications for internal and external stakeholders
  • Own and update marketing calendar to share out with internal partners
  • Maintain good collaborative working relationships with Optum site administrators, community marketing supervisors, health plan sales and marketing, local agencies, internal creative departments and other Marketing and Communication staff on multi-disciplinary teams
  • Consistently exhibits behavior and communication skills that demonstrate Optum’s commitment to superior customer service, including quality, care and concern with each and every internal and external customer
  • Performs additional duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college and/or a professional certification requiring formal education beyond a two-year college
  • 2+ years of experience
  • 1+ years of previous project supervisory experience
  • Proven experience and ability to manage multiple projects and their details end-to-end to meet objectives and deadlines
  • Ability to create and/or support creation of marketing materials using internal systems & processes
  • Experience in copywriting

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Healthcare industry experience
  • Ability to balance high-levels of execution with exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, and experience communicating with multiple business groups
  • Experience working in a matrixed environment with content, marketing and/or creative teams
  • Experience excelling in an operational role within a marketing function
  • Background working in a regional marketing team or a multi-location business a plus

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Foundational knowledge and understanding of marketing principles
  • Solid editorial eye and attention to detail for review of assets prior to market launch
  • Skilled in computer usage including knowledge of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel), Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Quick learner of software programs
  • Exceptional coordination and project management skills with a solid attention to detail.
  • Solid interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with customer-service mindset
  • Experience managing multiple deadlines, with demonstrated ability to switch gears quickly and “roll with the punches”
  • Organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Positive, professional and enthusiastic “can-do” attitude
  • Creative, hands-on, team player
  • Flexible and adaptable to change with a learning mind set
