• Run and supervise a one or two man field crew
• Prepare field notes, sketches, and photos
• Collect and code data for topographic, utility, structural monitoring, boundary, wetlands, other types of surveys
• Perform construction layout
• Utilize robotic total stations, optical/digital levels, and GPS
• Perform daily downloads of data collector files
• Adhere to company protocols for maintenance and upkeep of survey equipment and vehicles
• Interface and report to MFS' Principal Land Surveyor or project managers as assigned to a project

As a Surveyor assigned to a field position you will be expected to perform work year round, in varying weather conditions that may be wet, cold or hot. You will have to carry equipment and lift heavy objects. You may be required to work nights and weekends. MFS provides survey services in NJ, NY and PA, and you will be expected to work in all three states, and other locations as well.

• Continually required to utilize visual acuity to operate field equipment
• Frequently required to climb (ladders/stairs)
• Frequently required to twist, bend, stoop, kneel, and/or squat
• Occasionally required to lift and carry items less than 40 pounds
• Continual exposure to outside weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, etc.)
• Regularly travel to job sites

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Party Chief
• Experience with Leica total stations
• Wide range of experience in topographic/boundary survey and construction layout
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to react positively to difficult project assignments and/or client representatives
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently, yet follow defined procedures within reason
• Must possess a valid driver's license and have a clean driving record
• Must be willing to travel within NJ, NY, and adjoining states.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Undergo a background check (required).

• Experience with laser scanning
• Structural monitoring experience
• Experience with robotic total stations is a plus
• Ability to be the lead Party Chief on large multi crew projects
