OUTPATIENT CODERS (New Coders or Coders with Experience)
LONG ISLAND, NY
Job Opening Summary
Codes ancillary records using ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 classification system. Verifies appropriate and complete information provided. Contacts appropriate departmental personnel when information discrepancies and/or deficiencies are identified. Ensures proper code assignment for all coded records. Inputs coding and patient information in the appropriate computer system(s) for claim edits, denials and billing purposes.
Job Opening Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCA, CPC, CPC-A or coding program certificate preferred. RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCA, CPC, CPC-A required within six months of hire.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy and physiology required.
- Minimum 6 months of medical coding experience required.
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
- RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCA, CPC, CPC-A or coding program certificate preferred. RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCA, CPC, CPC-A required within six months of hire.
Minimum Pay Rate - Hourly: $16.00
Midpoint Pay Rate - Hourly: $21.00
Highpoint Pay Rate – Hourly: $23 and above
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $26.00 per hour
