Operations Technician Job at Cooper Tire
The Operations Technician will verify machines are maintained properly, operate reliably and provide consistent 'spec' cycle times. This position supports the Hebron facility in driving to zero equipment breakdowns.
The incumbent will follow the production 'pull' system to ensure the timely delivery of incoming materials and maintain Kanban maximum/minimum inventory levels. The position will report any quality related issues to leadership. This role must keep a safe, clean and organized work environment to help prevent risk of personal injury and product contamination.
This associate will identify and help resolve issues quickly by working with the team. They will also participate in cross-functional teams to implement operational improvements and roll-out best practices. In addition, the Operations Technician supports the facility in the handling of incoming/outgoing materials, equipment and tires.
Responsibilities
- Operate equipment following standard work procedures and quality system requirements. Adhere to and complete cross-training in one or more areas. Support the facility in maintaining up-to-date documentation. Communicate any discrepancies to the appropriate personnel. Designated technicians may maintain the Hebron plants overall material inventory control and replenishment cycles. This position may also receive, inspect and release materials (following the required standard) and report any quality issues to leadership and the material supplier.
- Verify that a quality product is produced at each station. Communicate any defects to the appropriate personnel. This position may also collect, weigh, record and dispose of scrap tires/materials. Additionally, Operations Technicians may verify tires are properly dispositioned, segregated, identified, loaded and shipped to approved locations.
- Verify/Maintain machine reliability to ensure proper operation. Adhere to total preventive maintenance (TPM) and calibration standards. Recognize abnormal situations and work with team members to identify/resolve equipment or process-related issues. Assist in completing maintenance tasks/work orders
- Ensure incoming materials are received "Just in Time", kept to the proper inventory level (via 'Kanban' or 'pull' system) and delivered to needed unit operations area. Verify all material is free of dirt, dust, paper, oil, etc. Report any incoming material quality issue to leadership. Operate forklift following all safety procedures to load/unload trucks.
- This role is accountable for their own safety and the safety of their team members. Proper precautions must be taken to ensure no one gets hurt. Follow environment, health and safety standards/procedures and promote positive/proactive safety practices with your team.
Required Education and Experience
- High School diploma required
- Associates degree in technical studies preferred
- 3+ years of experience working in a production and/or industrial facility - With focus on R&D operations
- Experience in quality assurance - Desired
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills
- Ability to operate both manual/automated industrial machinery
- Ability to follow documented procedures
- Ability to perform multiple tasks and/or operate multiple pieces of equipment within any workday
- Working knowledge of data acquisition, production planning and run charting systems
- Strong communication, teamwork and collaboration skills
- Sense of urgency to resolve issues
- Good problem solving-skills
- Position may require shift, evening, night or weekend work assignments
- May be required to lift/carry up to 50lbs

Pay: $50,000.00 - $52,000.00 per year
