ByteDance Networking brings together innovative ideas and technologies from network architecture, software-defined networking (SDN), network virtualization, switch software and hardware co-design, and high-speed networking, to create hyperscale data-center networking solutions that power several of the most popular apps of the world such as Douyin and TikTok which serve hundreds of millions of users around the globe.

ByteDance Networking is responsible for designing, building, and operating the global, intelligent network infrastructure to meet the requirements of high availability, scalability, and high-performance. By joining this team, you will gain marketable software development and/or network operation experiences in data center networking on a massive scale.

This role is a 6 months temporary assignment, eligible for extension up to 12 months. This role will be payrolled through a third-party Staffing agency.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate ByteDance's US Virginia Data centers and POPs
• Work with cross-functional teams including but not limited to network, Ops and server teams
• Work with external vendors for all network related projects, like cabling, OTN, vendor TAC etc.
• Good network knowledge, such as OSI and TCP/IP model
• Basic understanding of routing protocols such as OSPF, ISIS and BGP
• Basic understanding of network monitoring protocols, such as SNMP, sflow/netflow, Telemetry
• Basic understanding of how network devices work, such as switches, routers.
• Basic understanding and usage of network related Linux system tools, such as tcpdump, mtr etc.
• Have experience with optical related cleaning tools and diagnostic method, like OTDR
• Have passion for networking and willing to learn.
• Self-motivated, good communication and written skills, good team player
• Hands on experience for at least one of major network devices, such as Arista, Cisco,Juniper etc.
• Coding/scripting skill is a plus
