Catholic Charities - Ashland County is seeking a dedicated Mentor to spend quality time with at-risk youth to help them grow to their full potential! Mentors spend time with each individual youth participating in fun activities, educational opportunities, promoting pro-social activities, attending community events, and more. Some group activities will be planned with another Catholic Charities staff member. Mentors are paid hourly and are reimbursed their expenses such as mileage and the cost of activities done with the youth. This is a great opportunity to become a positive influence in the life of a young person!

Program Statement:

Catholic Charities, Ashland County is dedicated to meeting the needs of individuals and their families by providing exceptional care and compassion. The individual in this position will provide education and information on substance use prevention utilizing an evidence based Life Skills curriculum. The individual will encourage the youth to build resources and assets that promote positive behaviors and future planning.

What You Will Do:

  • Mentors spend regularly scheduled time with an individual youth participating in fun activities, educational opportunities, attending community events, and more. Some group activities will be planned with another Catholic Charities staff member. Most activities will be scheduled in the afternoons, evenings and weekends depending upon the needs and availability of the youth.
  • Mentors will utilize an evidence based Life Skills curriculum to provide information and encourage alternative behaviors to prevent substance use.
  • Mentors are paid hourly and are reimbursed their expenses such as mileage and the cost of activities done with the youth.
  • Mentors will document their activities and complete necessary outcomes, data and reporting to Catholic Charities and funders.
  • Mentors will participate in community events and meetings to promote the program and generate referrals.
