This position is responsible for indexing scanned documents to the electronic medical record (EMR) to contribute to the highest-quality, patient-centered health care for our patients and those who care for them.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Review individual documents that have been sent to the Health Information Management Department. Use knowledge of medical terminology, EMR, predetermined matrix to identify type of document and appropriate category for indexing to ensure that paperwork is properly scanned and indexed into the electronic medical record.
• Follow established goals for turnaround from scanning to indexing.
• Answer incoming calls. Assist OMG staff and clinics with questions regarding scanned documents.
• Use the EMR to send indexed information to designated desktops, if required.
• Maintain stats as requested for workflow and workload monitoring.
• Troubleshoot problems with scanned records placement, along with help from IT Department and clinic staff.
• Maintain strictest confidentiality.

Required Qualifications:

• High School diploma/GED or equivalent experience
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Strong multitasking and typing skills
• A basic knowledge of medical terminology
• 2+ years of work clerical or administrative experience in an office setting
