Job Summary
HRI, Inc., a leader in heavy civil construction since 1947, has an opening for an experienced and energetic Road Diesel Mechanic. HRI has shops located in Muncy, State College, and the Curtin Gap areas. The qualified candidates will have experience working on equipment and triaxles. Applicant must be able to work varying shifts and long hours dependent on market demands.
Main Responsibilities
- Reads job order and observes and listens to truck or equipment in operation to determine malfunction and to plan work procedures.
- Installs new ignition systems, aligns front wheels, changes or recharges batteries, and replaces transmissions and other parts.
- Overhaul’s gas or diesel engines.
- Examines protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks and equipment, and makes adjustments.
- Lubricates moving parts and drives or operates repaired truck or equipment to verify conformance to specifications.
- Fabricates special lifting or towing attachments, hydraulic systems, shields, or other devices according to blueprints or schematic drawings.
- Completes all standard maintenance on trucks and equipment and ensures state inspection requirements are met for trucks
- Other duties may be assigned
Education
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving history
Skills
- Previous experience and knowledge with diesel equipment/trucks and/or related field preferred
- Knowledge of diagnostic software and equipment
- Knowledge of diesel engine and components
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
Physical Requirements
- Wears and maintains personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by Company safety guidelines
- Regularly required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
- Regularly required to use hands to move and manipulate objects
- Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear)
- Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Standing/working on feet for long periods, and walking across uneven terrain
- Frequent exposure to loud noise
- Regularly exposed to all outdoor weather conditions, dust, and airborne particles
- Regularly exposed to fuel, oil, and other chemicals
- Required to work varying hours, including nights/weekends, Overtime as required
- Must comply with the company’s drug and alcohol testing requirements
- Proven track record working safely
- Good work ethic, professional, and positive attitude
- Some travel might be required

Pay: $27.00 - $30.00 per hour
