Marketing Analytics Manager Job at Family Dollar
General Summary:
This is a key position within the Marketing team. This is a hands-on role managing the analytic strategy of the team and ensuring the insights produced support the strategies not only of the Marketing team, but of the greater Family Dollar promotional efforts. Ideal candidate will be highly quantitative, pragmatic, and comfortable with uncertainty; excellent communication and prioritization skills are essential. Candidates are expected to demonstrate critical thinking, transition between technical approaches and business levers, anticipate partners’ next questions and underlying needs, as well as see beyond surface-level findings as this role presents opportunities and findings to executive level leadership in the merchandising, marketing, and supply chain organizations at Family Dollar.
With the growth of Family Dollar promotional outreach through various channels (digital and traditional), the role of the Marketing Analytics team is expanding as well. This individual will play a lead role in the development of capabilities and vision of the team.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities :
Leverage a variety of quantitative approaches to identify new insights and resolve gaps in existing knowledge base
Drive insights and proactive business decisions related to improving marketing efficiency across channels, events, location, and short/long term goals
Lead the promotional analytics team in monitoring and reporting on monthly promotional performance across a multitude of marketing vehicles (for example, circulars, web, email, social media, mobile, etc.)
Provide Sr. Leadership strategic recommendations on future events.
Oversee and develop the analytic team’s capability (currently there is an analyst reporting into the position) to digest data from varied sources, pull insights from the data, provide actionable recommendations, and communicate in a user-friendly manner to business partners throughout the organization
Evolve the promotional analytics processes, tools, and team to accommodate the changing analytical needs and structure of the Family Dollar Merchandising and Marketing Organizations
Be an active consultant giving fact-based recommendations provide informational support and participate upon request in monthly strategic promotional planning meetings and the annual marketing planning meeting
Support Merchandising LOBs in the building of promotional strategies and the selection of product submissions with comprehensive what did and did not work recommendations.
Work collaboratively with the digital marketing team to assess the effectiveness of digital spend and strategy. Lead efforts to expand and improve the tools utilized by the promotional analytics team including the management of a Marketing Mix Model and the investigation and eventual implementation of a promotional planning optimization tool.
Work closely with the Centralized analytics group to coordinate broader testing and evaluation activities.
Position Requirements:
Be willing and able to develop analyst reporting to you, which range from recent graduates to multiple years of experience.
Strong understanding of promotional analytics including marketing mix optimization, market basket analysis, promotional lift, price elasticity, etc.
Highly skilled and comfortable with data, metrics and statistical procedures including regression, logistic regression, time series, cluster analysis, and other techniques as well as the ability to interpret the results to analytical and non-analytical people alike.
Significant experience and knowledge in test and learn approach including; test design and post-event analysis.
Strong knowledge of marketing and merchandising, principles, techniques, and processes
Ability to complete projects with limited oversight
Proven ability to develop partnerships and collaborate across functions and across business divisions
Strong horizontal and vertical leadership skills and ability to contribute to a team environment with a proven ability to motivate others and create a productive work atmosphere
Ability to identify internal partners and develop processes and procedures to support business goals
Excellent communication to expedite decision-making process and to communicate to different levels in the organization, with solid presentation skills
Willing to work through a hybrid work environment – office is located in Chesapeake Virginia.
Minimum Requirements:
Education: Four-year college degree or equivalent experience; MBA or MS preferred
Experience: 8 years of applicable marketing analytical experience, with a general merchandise retailer is a plus
Analytics Skillset includes: High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Access, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) Designing marketing experiments (APT knowledge is a plus) Developing Test and Learn agendas Knowledgeable in various marketing reporting platforms: Google Analytics, Facebook Ad Manager, Google Ads, YouTube Ads, Bing, Mobile App reporting, email performance (Adobe is a plus), Agency dashboard, campaign meta data Detailed knowledge of Statistics and modeling a must Past involvement with Media Mix Model projects and/or Multi Touch Attribution Experience within Market Research is a plus.
