Applies knowledge of mechanics, shop math, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures to set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts. Train personnel as needed

Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of math and instruments such as micrometers, verniers, and gauges.
• Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines.
• Select the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in the preparation of machine work.
• Measure, examine, and test completed units for defects and ensure conformance to specifications.
• Read work orders and/or production schedules to determine specifications, such as material to be used, location of cutting lines, and dimension and tolerances.
• Set up, adjust, and operate all of the essential machine tools to perform precision machining operations.
• Start and run machines, monitor their operations, and record operational data.
• Adjust machine speeds and actions, according to product specifications.
• Operate Forklifts and cranes
• Use of torches, grinders, and multiple power tools
• On sight work domestic and international
• Maintain a clean, safe, working environment.
• Support other areas of the shop as needed.

Position Requirements:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• 5-10 years of experience in a manufacturing/repair environment.
• Ability to foresee changes relevant to the area of responsibility.
• Ability to organize work assignments to ensure efficient operations within the area.
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely to achieve the intended objective.
• Ability to read and use related quality control tools such as vernier calipers, micrometers, indicators, and tape measures.
• Good organizational skills
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time and in environments that require frequent bending, reaching and lifting

Understanding of lean and 6S safety in a manufacturing environment

Basic computer skills

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
