Under the supervision of the VP of Partnerships and Programs, the Manager of Grants is responsible for securing funding for the organization and its partners. This position works with the executive, mission services, nonprofit partner, and finance teams to ensure accurate, timely, and efficient process for the entire grant life cycle, from proposal to close. This position consistently upholds the Mission, Vision, and Values of the organization.

Essential Functions:

  • Researches funding opportunities in alignment with the short- and long-term funding needs and goals of the organization.
  • Monitors timelines and keeps relevant staff informed of upcoming deadlines and deliverables; maintains a calendar of submissions and report deadlines.
  • Communicates the organization and its partners’ Mission and programs to potential funders.
  • Conducts the full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to federal, state, local and private foundation funding sources.
  • Maintains a calendar of submissions and other deadlines to ensure timely submission of letters of inquiry, proposal deadlines, and reports.
  • Ensures agency compliance with all grant requirements.
  • Keeps grant policies and procedures current and accurate for auditors and reviewers.
  • Prioritizes multiple grant opportunities to ensure multiple proposals proceed in a timely manner.
  • Manages supplemental material required for proposals.
  • Designs and incorporates strategic planning with each program on the narrative and budget that produces results and solutions to identified needs.
  • Prepares budget proposals in partnership with the finance team and respective organizational entity.
  • Generates revenue for programs through timely submission of well-researched, well written, and well-documented grant proposals.
  • Compiles data, prepares reports, success stories, and other relevant information for programs.
  • Creates and maintains up-to-date language regarding the organization and its partners and their respective programs.
  • Develops and maintains collections of current research, statistics, and citations regarding the populations served by the organization and its partners for use in grant proposal submissions and other development communications.
  • Ensures grant compliance, and assists with grant report development.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three years’ experience in successful grant funding, administration, or support.
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Business or related writing-intensive field.
  • Experience working with people with disabilities, people experiencing homelessness, at-risk youth, or other marginalized communities preferred.
  • Ability to demonstrate mastery working with computers including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite and database systems.
  • Understanding of contract requirements management including activity design and data collection to ensure compliant contract expectations.
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication and public speaking skills.
  • A demonstrable successful track record of prioritization, organization, time and project management.
  • Ability to handle multiple, simultaneous, competing projects effectively and thrive in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to react under pressure, use good judgment in ambiguous situations, and be flexible/adaptable.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must provide proof of identification and eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Must pass a drug and background screening.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and auto insurance.
  • Must have access to reliable transportation that does not interfere with performing the essential functions of the job description, cause tardiness, or unexcused absences.
  • Does not exhibit behavior that indicates an ongoing tendency toward theft, violence, dishonesty, deceit, drug use, moral turpitude or predatory behavior in conflict with the functions listed within this job description.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of Director of Grants job description with or without reasonable accommodation.

Position Information:

  • Job Type: This is a full-time, exempt position.
  • Compensation Range: $75,000-80,000 annually
  • Work is primarily performed in the community and within an office environment.
  • Work environments are usually fast-paced and can include instances of critical or unusual situations.
  • Travel to various company and community-based locations is required. Periodic travel, including airline travel and overnight stays, may be required.
