Logistics Analyst - Payables Job at Morton Salt, Inc
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
A list of the principal functions of the job to include an action-oriented description of each activity along with the desired outcome against which some measurement of performance can be applied.
- Serve as point of contact for carriers or 3PL vendors in assigned area of responsibility for both internal and external parties related to invoice status questions or logistics performance issues.
- Lead continuous improvement through ownership of the business rules used by Morton’s 3PL Freight Audit Team for processing invoices.
- Track, measure and improve on KPIs and trends using financial reports
- Monitor, root cause and find solutions for payment issues delegated to Morton by our 3PL Freight Audit team.
- Lead meetings with a cross-functional team of internal/external stakeholders to identify, root cause and resolve top line discrepancies.
- Coordinate solutions for payment issues with carriers or 3PL warehouse sites.
- Recommend changes for warehouse purchase requisitions based on annual budget.
- Interface independently with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Monitor shipment status to ensure timely resolution of shipment where payment is not queued up.
- Act as the point of contact between Logistics and AP for all department payment issues.
- Assist in providing financial information for Logistics claim issues.
- Provide feedback to management on 3PL vendor/supplier performance.
- Support internal projects focusing on continuous improvement, with a focus on eliminating waste, reducing cost, and driving on-time delivery performance with our carriers and 3PL providers.
- Identify, document, and escalate areas of logistics cost savings opportunities on an ongoing basis
- Any other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

- Bachelor’s degree preferred with preference towards Business, Logistics, Operations Management or 3 years of experience in Logistics, Supply Chain, Operations and/or Project Management
- Experience with SAP, Warehouse Management or Transportation Management systems, Business Warehouse or similar reporting packages, databases and analytical tools highly preferred.
- Familiar with transportation regulatory or warehousing requirements
- Strong verbal and written communication skills. Exhibits confidence and ability to interact with various levels both internally & externally.
- Able to work independently as well as across functional or matrix team structures.
- Strong analytical skills with high level of organization, follow through & accuracy. Ability to collect, organize, analyze and disseminate information with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Knowledge of key performance metrics, on-time delivery, inventory, etc.
- Able to develop knowledge of the business while serving as the primary point of contact for the assigned area of responsibility.
- Able to prioritize and manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Strong track record for execution and follow through when managing critical deadlines.
- Displays great integrity, trust and an interest in learning about the industry.
