Supervises members and guests in and around pool area while enforcing all water safety policies and procedures. Frequently works in outdoor weather conditions. Occasionally works in wet or humid conditions (non-weather); near fumes or airborne particles, and near toxic or caustic chemicals. Noise level is moderate . Monitor pool area to provide assistance and protection to members and guests.

  • Checks the first aid supplies and reports needed items to management in a timely fashion.
  • Organizes and monitors pool games at all times.
  • Supervises and observes swimmers at all times to ensure their safety.
  • Closely monitors activities related to the pool area identifying any safety issues throughout the shift
  • Directing swimmers out of the water in dangerous conditions
  • Closely monitors weather reports to make sure members/guests remain safe
  • Enforces the rules of conduct.
  • Skims bugs and other debris from surface to prepare pool for daily use.
  • Straightens the pool area throughout the day.
  • Maintains all necessary records determined by the Department Manager.
  • Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
  • Rescues swimmers who are in danger of drowning
  • May supervise pool in absence of supervisor
  • Maintains flexibility to take on new and different tasks as directed by the Department Manager.
  • Attends staff meetings.

Requirements:

  • One to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Required read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; to write routine reports and correspondence; to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of the organization.
  • May be required: to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • May be required: to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Meet the physical demands of the position: Frequently uses hands to finger, handle, or feel, talks and hears. Regularly stands and sits. Occasionally walks, reaches with hands and arms, climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls, tastes or smells. Occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds.
  • Regularly uses close, distance, color, and peripheral vision as well as depth perception. Ability to adjust focus.
  • AED, CPR, and First Aid Certification.
