West Russell Animal Hospital is a fast paced animal hospital that is looking for the right individual to join our treatment staff! The Licensed Veterinary Technician/Veterinary Technician In Training’s primary job is to support our veterinarians in their daily work schedule. You will be interacting with all staff to ensure consistent, safe, and appropriate patient care.

Job Duties:

• Provides compassionate care to patients.
• Performs all duties in accordance with hospital medical policies and procedures.
• Assists the doctor in medical, surgical and dental procedures; prepares patients for surgery; assists the doctor in administering anesthesia; monitors patients during surgery and recovery; administers fluids. Assists the doctor during emergencies.
• Responsible for pulling blood and running lab work.
• Assists in ultrasounds and radiographs.
• Assists with physical examinations; report observations on patients.
• Gives injections and administers oral medication in accordance with hospital policy.
• Admits and discharges patients on the doctor's orders, ensuring that patients are well groomed and in a medically appropriate state.

Personal Requirements:

• Must be licensed or in the process of obtaining a Veterinary Technician license.
• We are looking for a candidate that is able to thrive under pressure and prioritize well.
• Must have a strong love of animals and be motivated to provide the best possible experience for our clients and their pets.
• Has excellent client communication skills.
• Physical Effort: Work requires lighting and carrying animals up to 40lbs. (will be assisted by other staff members in liftin animals over 40 lbs). Walks or stands for extended periods of time; frequently works in a bent position
• Working conditions: May be exposed to unpleasant odors, noises and animal feces. May be exposed to bites, scratches and contagious diseases.
• Must have open availability as this is a full time position.

Benefits after 60 days for full time employees. Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance. Paid Time off after 1 year of employment.
