Daicel Arbor Biosciences has a current opening for a Lab Technician in our Synthetic Biology division. This opportunity is perfect for an experienced technician who will deliver applied cutting-edge tools to the Life Sciences community and work as part of a team primarily in the manufacturing, quality control and quality assurance of our synthetic biology products.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Cultivating and processing bacteria
• Isolating, purifying and amplifying DNA
• Quantification of DNA and protein samples
• Manipulation and cloning of DNA
• Recombinant protein production in E. coli and protein purification
• Conducting biological assays
• Preparing and sterilizing media, solutions and buffers
• Performing compliance testing of synthetic biology products
• Operating liquid handling robotic systems
• Documenting and summarizing test results of production and QC data and weekly analysis and reporting of production inventory needs
• Maintaining data integrity and ensuring compliance with company Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs)
• Supporting revision of documents relevant for production and QC data acquisition
• Communicating matters relevant for myTXTL manufacturing, and maintenance with direct supervisor and production team members for cross functional resolutions
• Internal processing of incoming orders for our synthetic biology products (order assembly and coordination of shipment with customer service adhering to defined turn-around time)
• Managing laboratory supply, maintenance and inventory
• Supporting R&D projects relevant for manufacturing (< 10%)
• Supporting the training and on-boarding process for new team members

EXPERIENCE:

• Two years' of laboratory work in Molecular Biology/Microbiology/Biotechnology
• Direct work experience in manufacturing and/or quality control of life science products and recombinant protein production
• Excellence in performing standard laboratory procedures and calculations

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Positive attitude, eagerness to learn, progress and develop
• Ability to simultaneously perform and manage multiple projects
• Detail-oriented with precise documentation and record keeping skills
• Able to work independently in a guided environment and adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
• Strong verbal and writing skills for reporting scientific results

EDUCATION:

• Required: Bachelor’s degree in biological science or related field
• Preferred: Advanced degree in biological science or related field'
