What we are looking for:

  • Employee Recruitment – Work with supervisors to determine needs, skills and develop plan of action accordingly. Generate appropriate job ads as needed. Coordinate interview/hiring processes. Assist with and review the transition plans, compensation/benefit plans, and offer letters prior to being conveyed. Work with temp services for specific needs.
  • New Hire Orientation – Meet with new employees to complete necessary documents, review overall company concepts, and give basic 90-day plan with guideline of post 90-day benefits. Process all regulatory compliance requirements both internally and externally for employee. Upload information into the HRIS/Payroll system. Provide new hire info as required for system access and assignment.
  • Terminations– Coordinate necessary steps, process exit letters, provide information for terminations. Process all regulatory compliance requirements both internally and externally for former employee. Assure termination is processed in all areas related to benefits, payroll, and system access.
  • Maintain required databases and census information for employees.
  • Maintain all confidential files and records for employees.
  • Develop and process weekly and on-going reports for management.
  • Develop supervisor and employee training as part of overall development plans.
  • Maintain, update, review, and implement employee manuals, policies, and procedures related to Human Resources.
  • Monitor rules, laws, regulations and compliance for updates/changes and inform Executive Vice President when DSCO is required to make changes to comply.
  • Provide appropriate tools, training and resources to assist managers and supervisors with employee evaluations, written warnings, disciplinary actions, and praise.
  • Union - Coordinate grievance procedures, including administration of Step 3. Coordinate and participate with upper management, CFO, and attorney during negotiation processes. Remain familiar with the CBA provisions and language. Administer decision making processes according to CBA and review with upper management.
  • Attend and participate in Human strategic meetings, as requested, to plan for DSCO “next generation”, growth, and overall future plans. Provide human resource related impacts as foreseen for future.
  • Document issues, situations, and other information as needed for human resource department.
  • Safety and Workers Compensation – Assist Health, Safety, & Environmental Director as needed to coordinate and provide employee information
  • Facilitate conflict resolution in a manner that provides for resolution in the best interest of both the employee and Dave Steel Company, Inc. Facilitate appropriate communication that allows for full employee participation.
  • Coordinate community projects for employees and DSCO to give back to our community in a manner to meet corporate community service goals.
  • Plan and work with management to coordinate successful employee events. Process employee gifts such as birthday cards, Holiday gifts, ordering and assembly of communications.
  • Work with management, as requested, for succession planning with current employees.
  • Work with the accounting department to process necessary changes, provide information, and streamline areas of overlap.
  • Process and approve all invoices for benefits and HR related billings.
  • Degree in HR/Management (B.A. or B.S.) preferred
  • Minimum 5 Years experience in Human Resource Management with knowledge of current employment law, compensation, benefits, administration, and conflict management.
