Job Description: Housekeepers-Room Attendants

To maintain the cleanliness of guestrooms and attend to guests’ needs according to Sheraton standards.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Follows the Sheraton ABC’s of Housekeeping, both in task performance and in sequence, in cleaning the guestroom:
  • Changes bed linen and bath linen in accordance with occupancy status and guest preference.
  • Cleans, sanitizes and dries all areas of the bathroom (sink, counter, tub, tile, floor, etc.)
  • Removes stains and smudges from windows, walls, mirrors, pictures, small appliances.
  • Equips room with all guest amenities.
  • Vacuums and dusts all furniture and hard surfaces.
  • Performs special general cleaning to maintain readiness for official Sheraton and Public Health inspections.
  • Reports all maintenance and “wear and tear” issues to Housekeeping Dept.
  • Fulfills all customer service guidelines for guest service.
  • Checks and reports guests’ consumption of bottled water.
  • Updates room status on daily work sheet.
  • Maintains guestroom security by careful key control and security procedures..*
  • Maintains all cleaning equipment in good working condition.
  • Maintains housekeeping cart in clean and organized manner continually through out the day.
  • Collaborates in periodic guestroom renovations and redecoration by removing and moving furnishings.
  • Performs other cleaning functions as directed by Housekeeping management.*

Minimum Requirements:

  • Ability to communicate clearly with other housekeepers, housemen and supervisors
  • A demonstrated positive attitude towards service and a desire to provide an excellent guest experience for hotel guests.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
  • Ability to balance many tasks and prioritize in importance.
  • Ability to read basic instructions or communications in Spanish or English
  • Ability to follow through with daily room assignment reports and reports of problems.
  • Ability to clean 16 rooms per day while observing maid minute guidelines.
  • Availability to work weekends and holidays

Working conditions

  • Typically bends, stoops, moves, lifts, squats and walks constantly during the shift to perform cleaning tasks.
  • Must be able to stand and perform cleaning tasks for up to 4 hours at a time. Must lift up to 10 lbs. 30 times during the shift.
  • Must be able to push a loaded housekeeping cart weighing 75 lbs. 32 times a day and return it to a storeroom at the end of the shift.
  • Requires visual acuity to be able to clean thoroughly and maintain cleanliness and manual dexterity to perform cleaning tasks.
  • Most work is performed indoors.
  • Works regularly with cleaning and disinfecting chemicals.
