The Home Visitor position is a full time home visitor in the Infant/Toddler Program. This position is responsible for visiting expectant mothers, infants, toddlers and families and carrying out developmentally appropriate child activities in accordance the Partners for a Health Baby curriculum and NAEYC Standards and in compliance with the Head Start Program Performance Standards. The Home Visitor is also responsible for coordinating comprehensive services for children and families, for a caseload of no more than 12 families.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Work daily as a home visitor for expectant mothers, infants and toddlers and their families conducting weekly 90 minute home visits.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the designated Partners for a Healthy Baby curriculum through proper daily implementation with developmentally appropriate conversations, behaviors and guidance strategies and ability to model for teaching staff, children, parents, community volunteers and interns.
  • Understand and implement program’s School Readiness Plan, inclusive of activities to support the Parent, Family & Community Engagement goals and outcomes.
  • Complete documentation of home visits, socialization experiences and other relevant activities.
  • Collaborate with families to establish family development goals, and document this collaborative process in family partnership agreements.
  • Determine existence of or assist family in establishing prenatal, post-partum and well-baby medical and/or dental home care.
  • Advocate for families as needed, support them in advocating for themselves and assist families and provide management, crisis intervention and resource referral services as needed in crisis.
  • Utilize the child and family tracking software by performing data entry functions and generating and analyzing reports.
  • Maintain accurate and up to date children files and secure all required documentation including: written authorizations, CACFP documentation, screenings, assessments and immunizations and health history.
  • Administer medication to enrolled children in accordance with the program’s “Medication Administration Policy and Procedures.”
  • Administer health screenings and assist education staff and parents/guardians with conducting developmental screenings and assessments, reviewing Individual Education Plans, Nutrition, Speech and/or Emotional-Behavioral assessments/plans.
  • Collaborate with Content Area Supervisors/Specialists to assist and support in the areas of Health, Nutrition, Mental Health & Disabilities, Education and Parent, Family & Community Engagement.
  • Actively participate in special community events and agency-wide initiatives including development events and activities.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned in support of agency and program needs and operations.
Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: (Must be fully met in order to qualify for position)

  • Home-Visitor Child Development Associate or higher degree or related field.
  • Experience in an Infant/Toddler setting or equivalent experience working with children and working with a team.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Proficient computer skills, including data base systems, and access to email and internet.
  • Ability to speak, read, write, comprehend, process, interpret follow and carry out instructions spoken in the English language and written in a variety of documents and reference relevant to the job.
