We’re looking for a marketing generalist who can build Wordpress websites and meet a variety of other design needs, on an as-needed contract basis.

• serve small businesses in high-end services (law, real estate, medical, beauty)
• use the Divi Builder
• are 1-20 pages
• rely on plugins as much as possible
• do not have significant technical code requirements

Who we are:

We provide bookkeeping, office management, and marketing services to small businesses and startups, primarily in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

As a member of the marketing team, you will be responsible for designing and developing Wordpress websites for our clients, and creating graphic designers to support our retainer clients. It is your job to understand the marketing goals for each client, to create designs that will support those goals, and to perform website edits as needed.

You will work closely with the marketing strategist, review persona documentation, and study competitors to develop designs that promote product/service descriptions, unique selling propositions, and calls to action. Clients should love your designs because they are appealing to the target audience, result in a higher conversion rate, and carry thoughtful touches. You will also create graphic designs for our clients in both web and print formats, including business cards, social media, flyers, and banners.

You will take care of our existing set of client websites and maintain our agency web host account, troubleshoot problems, and solve bugs (with help from our web host).

SKILLS WE'RE EXPECTING FROM YOU:

• Front-end Wordpress Web Design: This is your primary job: design web pages in WordPress using the Divi WordPress builder. Websites can range from 1 to 20 pages and generally promote small businesses in the services and trades. Many of our clients are built using the Divi Builder, but some use other Wordpress builders, including Elementor, WP Bakery, and Beaver Builder. You will need to be familiar with these or confident you can design with them when called on. You will not be asked to code web pages in HTML.
• Back-end Wordpress Maintenance: Maintain, develop, and troubleshoot Wordpress installations. Writing plugins is not required, but you will need to be familiar with the Wordpress codex, JavaScript, jQuery, and PHP to understand plugin conflicts that occur. We will look to you to find, recommend, and install appropriate plugins when clients request functionality outside Wordpress’s default functions.
• Occasional Coding: You must be able to write custom CSS for web design styling, as well as and basic JavaScript, jQuery, and PHP code snippets when installing a plugin would be overkill. Many of our websites use lightweight custom code snippets to execute simple functions. We are not looking for someone who prefers to use code in lieu of plugins.
• Basic Server Maintenance/Web Development: We’re looking for someone to be a point person for server issues and downtime. You can work with our web host’s support, Siteground, but you’ll need to understand the ins and outs of the Wordpress backend to solve problems. We also need you to run, maintain, and troubleshoot website backups with our website software.
• Graphic Design: Create and edit graphic elements and images to accompany websites, such as icons, buttons, banners, and backgrounds, as well as regular graphic designs such as social media, flyers, business cards, and other print materials. We use Canva and Adobe Photoshop. If you are familiar with Adobe InDesign and Illustrator or other graphics software, that will be a plus.

YOUR JOB LOCATION:

All work will be performed remotely. You will be responsible to provide your own computer and internet connection. Ingenium will provide access to applications for files, project management, timekeeping, and communication (Google Drive, ClickUp, Toggl, and Slack).

COMPENSATION:

$25/hr for the first 45 days for onboarding and evaluation, then $28-35/hr based on the demonstrated skillset.
