Location: Plant Sites in N.J., Eastern P.A., Offices in Morrisville, P.A. and Southampton, N.J.

Position Essential Functions Responsibilities

  • Conducts monthly health and safety audits at all facilities in their territory to evaluate site level with Silvi policies and federal, state and local regulations.
  • Work with the Safety Director to develop solutions to eliminate safety risks by re-engineering processes or creating appropriate training and monitoring programs.
  • Monitor the SmartDrive program scores and training for employees in their territory.
  • Ensure that contractor personnel working on any company property are in compliance with the Contractor and Visitor Requirements Program.
  • Investigate all serious company accidents, incidents, near misses and injuries to determine the root cause, responsible parties and corrective action.
  • Act as point person for all federal, state and local regulatory inspections, including OSHA, MSHA and DOT.
  • Monitor compliance with training programs for common processes or equipment to mitigate risk of accidents due to lack of training.
  • Hold operations managers accountable to the company’s “toolbox talk” program.
  • Conduct safety training programs that demonstrate the care and proper use of safety equipment (PPE, fall protection, respiratory protection, etc.).
  • Provide reports, analysis and consistent feedback to owners, managers and executives.

Qualifications

  • 4-year College Degree and at least 2-4 years of field safety experience.
  • Occupational health, safety and environmental compliance experience with applicable federal, state and local regulations and standards.
  • Experience with OSHA/MSHA regulations.
  • Knowledge and experience with DOT and Commercial Driver’s compliance.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of delivering “hands on” health, safety and environmental training.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, consultative and facilitation skills with all levels of management and staff.
  • Ability to handle confidential information.
  • Moderate travel – between locations and projects.
  • Sense of urgency & ability to meet deadlines (self-directed).
  • Computer skills proficiency with: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.

Physical Demands

In a typical work setting, people in this job:

  • Walk on uneven ground for approximately 5 miles per day
  • Stand/sit for long periods of time.
  • Hear sounds and recognize the difference between them.
  • See details of objects that are less than a few feet away.
  • Determine from which direction a sound came.
  • See differences between colors, shades, and brightness.
  • Lift 40 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds on occasion.
  • Use muscles to lift, push, pull, or carry heavy objects.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, equipment, tools or controls; perform repetitive movements with hands, wrists or feet; and reach with hands and arms.
