Job Requirements:
- Must love books
- Minimum of 2 years working experience in the bookselling industry (required)
- Confidence in promoting the mission of Birdie Books
- True passion to help people find books they will love
- High School Diploma or GED
- Proficient in BookManager Software and basic computer functions
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to multi-task and work independently or with a team
- Dedication to exceptional customer service
- Ability to recommend book titles over an array of genres to inquiring customers
- Skilled in creative problem solving and willingness to support the overall needs of the team
- Experience in merchandising and creating visual displays
- Desire to contribute to in-store programing and events
Responsibilities:
- Maintain a clean and orderly shop
- Organize inventory, support in visual displays and themes
- Processing and receiving of inventory
- Purchasing inventory and maintaining vendor accounts
- Fulfill customer online and in-store orders
- Coordinate and correspond with institutional orders and customers
- Answer customer questions, provide title suggestions
- Support Birdie team in inventory selection, curating titles and sidelines
- Assist in inventory audits
- Maintain organized sales reports and workstations
- Manage day-to-day financials
Physical and Environmental Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds intermittently
- Must be able to bend, push, and pull up to 30 pounds intermittently
- Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time
