Experienced Analyst - Investment Banking - Technology (Menlo Park) Job at Guggenheim Partners
Guggenheim Securities (“GS”) is seeking exceptional experienced Analysts to join its Technology, Media and Telecom (TMT) Investment Banking team in Silicon Valley. The Menlo Park-based team advises clients in the technology sector on various financial transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, equity/equity-linked and debt financings, joint ventures, shareholder activism, restructurings, and financial investments. Key sub-sectors covered in the Silicon Valley office include Security Software, Infrastructure Software (including DevOps, DBaaS), Data and Analytics, Application Software, Vertical Software, Enterprise Infrastructure and Systems.
Candidates will join a highly collaborative team responsible for providing M&A advisory and capital raising (equity and debt) service and capabilities to clients. GS offers a unique opportunity to work as part of small client teams on major strategic and financing assignments, providing meaningful exposure to senior bankers and client representatives. Candidates should be top performers who are willing to work hard in an unstructured environment where initiative, creativity, maturity, and enthusiasm for learning are highly valued. Candidates must be focused on earning a promotion to Associate upon completion of the Analyst program (3 years total) and becoming a top performer with the intention of developing a long-term banking career.
Essential Job Functions
- Create client pitches, software and enterprise thought pieces and management presentations
- Perform comprehensive analyses of pro forma merger scenarios, leveraged buyouts, public listings and financing alternatives using discounted cash flow, sum of the parts, public comparables and precedent transactions analyses
- Prepare and contribute to delivery of client presentations and interact with senior bankers, clients, lawyers, and accountants
- Assist in the design and development of complex financial models and valuation analysis
- Perform client due diligence, prepare information memoranda and other transaction-related documentation
- Contribute to the creation of strategic frameworks, tools and intellectual property to aid business development activities of the firm
- Conduct competitive research including identifying sector and industry trends
- Gather and analyze information, formulate and test hypotheses, develop and communicate recommendations to senior leadership
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the technology industry is preferred, but not required
- Significant level of maturity and the ability to work as a team interfacing with top company executives and senior management
- Solid interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively to senior management and/or senior clients
- A proven track record of high intellectual horsepower throughout academic and professional career
- Intellectually curious with a passion to seek a deeper understanding of how organizations in all sectors perform best

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum of 1 year of investment banking experience including familiarity with M&A and Equity Capital Markets transactions
- Analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills including academic and relevant consulting experience in financial modeling and valuation
- High aptitude in finance, ideally with experience performing financial and valuation analysis in Excel or comparable spread sheet tools
Salary Details
- Annual base salary between $110,000 and $130,000.
- The base salary range represents the low and high end of the anticipated base salary range for this position. Actual base salaries may vary depending on factors such as location and experience. The range listed reflects base salary only, and the total compensation package may include other components such as incentive compensation.
- Work Location: Currently, this role is expected to be in the Menlo Park office at least 4 days per week.
