Position Summary
Assists the Clinical Dietitian in assessing patient's nutritional needs and providing nutrition education. Performs calorie counts, corrects menus and checks assembled meal trays for accuracy and quality standards
Key Responsibilities include:
- Screens nutrition status of assigned patients, assists in development of care plans for identified problems, monitors patient responsiveness to care plans.
- Plans in-between meal nourishments for patients on assigned service as needed.
- Communicates any nutritional problems beyond his/her scope/practice to the Clinical Dietitian.
- Assists in monitoring compliance with quality assurance standards in related field of expertise
- Calculates calorie and protein intake and documents the results in the patients’ medical records.
- Provides nutrition education to patient and significant others on modified diets and food and drug interactions.
- Contacts room service operators and associates with diet order information.
- Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reviewing current literature, attending inservice meetings, and workshops.
- Participates in and promotes teamwork with the multidisciplinary team on a daily basis.
- Interacts, establishes cooperative working relationships, and communicates effectively with co-workers.
- Follows customer friendly guidelines in meeting customer needs.
- Follows established City of Hope and department policies, procedures, objectives, performance.
- improvement, attendance, safety, environmental, and infection control guidelines. Practices a high level of integrity and honesty in maintaining confidentiality.
- Demonstrates proper and safe use of equipment.
- Assists in training as required.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Qualifications
Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:
Minimum Education:
- Associate's Degree in Nutrition or related field.
Minimum Experience:
- One year of related experience preferred.
Preferred Certification/Licensure:
- Dietetic Technician Registered status.
Additional Information:
- Pay Rate: $32.15415/hr
- As a condition of employment, City of Hope requires staff to comply with all state and federal vaccination mandates.
- This position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement.
- Per Diem
- The estimated pay scale represents the typical [salary/hourly] range City of Hope reasonably expects to pay for this position, with offers determined based on several factors which may include, but not be limited to, the candidate’s experience, expertise, skills, education, job scope, training, internal equity, geography/market, etc. This pay scale is subject to change from time to time.
