Beautiful Skilled Nursing Facility in Daly City seeks experienced Dietary Supervisor.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma.
- Must have experience and knowledge in food service.
- Preferably certified food protection professional, and/or certified professional chef.
- Participates annually in continuing education to maintain certification (as appropriate).
- Cooking, food service, food safety and sanitation skills.
- Sanitation and food safety certification.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to work independently and under direct supervision.
- Ability to satisfy customers’ needs and desires (within scope of practice).
- Basic knowledge of nutrition, food service, local, state, federal, and Joint Commission regulations as applicable to food, sanitation, food safety, food service, etc.
- Possesses knowledge/skills in food safety and sanitation, and menu formulation.
- Excellent organization skills, record keeping knowledge and abilities.
- Basic computer skills (for facility work, communications via email, use of internet for research/information, etc.)
Job Summary:
The supervisor of food and nutrition services assists the Manager of food and nutrition services to direct the entire food and nutrition services department and reports directly to the manager of food and nutrition services. The supervisor of food and nutrition services must have basic knowledge and experience in all phases of food purchasing, preparation, production control, inventory control, safety, sanitation, equipment, food and labor cost control, menu development, and must work well under the direction of the Manager of food and nutrition services.
Duties:
- Works under general supervision of Manager of food and nutrition serves.
- Responsible for supervising all food service staff in absence of manager of food and nutrition services.
- Ensures that food preparation and service is in accordance with accepted local, state, federal, and/or Joint Commission regulations, and administrative policies within budgetary allowances.
- Suggests revision or adaptations of procedures for more efficient performance of food services department and training of employees.
- Assists manager of food and nutrition services: With record keeping as assigned.
- With interviews of nutrition and dining service personnel applicants when requested.
- In developing and implementing cleaning schedules.
- With food planning committee meetings.
- With food and nutrition service employee evaluations when requested
- Makes daily visits in dining room to gain insight on food acceptance from patients/residents.
- Maintains a cooperative relationship with all facility staff and departments.
- Completes mandatory training and/or routine training per facility policy such as HIPPA, abuse, patient’s/resident’s rights, dementia, ethics and emergency preparedness.
