About the Division:
The Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City has supervisory and regulatory authority over a wide range of banking institutions and activities within the Tenth Federal Reserve District. The Supervision Risk Management (SRM) division plays an integral role in reviewing the safety and soundness of bank holding companies, savings and loan holding companies, and state-chartered member banks. Our examination teams participate in supervisory activities including financial and risk management analysis and verify adherence to laws, regulations, regulatory guidance, and commitments.

About the Role:
The Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City offers a challenging and rewarding career opportunity as a Commissioned Bank Examiner. As a Commissioned Bank Examiner, you will work in a dynamic team environment and play an important role in helping the Federal Reserve carry out its regulatory responsibilities for commercial banks and financial institution holding companies located in the Tenth Federal Reserve District.

You will collaborate with team members to ensure supervisory events are conducted in an organized manner. Examination teams participate in supervisory activities including financial and risk management analysis and verifying adherence to laws, regulations, regulatory guidance, and commitments. In addition, you will confer with financial institution personnel to gather information and communicate issues that arise during supervisory activities, as well as present conclusions and regulatory ratings to examination team leadership and financial institution and Reserve Bank management.

This position does require you to work from our Oklahoma City office. Remote candidates cannot be considered for this position. Some work from home flexibility is available. Examination teams do spend some periods of time traveling.
Important Activities:
  • Serve as both an individual contributor and as a team member on various assignments.
  • Exercise a high degree of independent judgment and competence to achieve results, resolve examination issues, and recommend conclusions on matters of moderate complexity, significance, and impact.
  • Collaborate with team members to conduct analysis of financial information, assess compliance with laws and regulations, evaluate risk within banking organizations, and assess the overall effectiveness of the organization’s risk management practices.
  • Broadly apply well-developed technical knowledge in a subset of financial and supervisory disciplines.
  • Demonstrate the ability to assess and effectively communicate complex technical topics to a variety of audiences.
  • Conduct meetings with Reserve Bank and executive level bank management.
  • Compile and organize documentation for support of conclusions and provide a report of analysis and conclusions to bank and Reserve Bank management in written and verbal formats.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, or related field of study, or equivalent combination of directly related education and/or experience.
  • Typically requires 4 or more years of directly applicable experience performing the defined key activities.
  • Active or dormant examiner commission from a state or other federal agency.
  • Incumbent must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, unless the Bank grants an accommodation based on a medical condition or sincerely held religious belief.
Compensation and Travel:
Our compensation philosophy is grounded on the principles of being competitive and equitable. Pay is commensurate with the amount of experience you bring to the job.
  • Starting salary for this position is $87,400 to $140,000 depending on the job level in which the candidate is placed and the skill/experience of the candidate.
  • Position requires periods of extended travel up to 25 percent.
In some cases, positions require access to confidential supervisory information, access to which is limited to "Protected Individuals" as defined by regulation of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, 12 CFR 268.205. Protected Individuals include, but are not limited to, U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, and lawful permanent resident aliens (also known as "green card holders") who are eligible for and seeking United States citizenship within the requisite timeframes.
