Phoenix Loss Control ("Phoenix" or "PLC") has current openings for its Claim Recovery Specialist position. Phoenix is preferably looking for candidates with experience as a claims adjusters, debt collectors, or similar roles, as well as candidates with industry experience in the telecoms, cable, or utility industries. This position offers a flexible work schedule and is open to both people seeking part time, as well as full time roles. Our strong preference is for individuals who can contract as 1099s (as opposed to W-2 employees), at least initially.

PLC provides financial recovery services for its telecom, cable, and utility clients throughout the United States who have experienced damaged property caused by third parties. The majority of the damage claims Phoenix receives include, but are not limited to, motor vehicle accidents involving utility poles or other utility property, aerial/underground cables or other equipment damaged by excavators and contractors, as well as incidents involving all utilities such as power, gas, water, electric, or others.

The Claim Recovery Specialist is in charge of gathering information provided on a damage, determining who was responsible for the damage, invoicing the responsible party, and pursuing collection from them. This position requires someone who is comfortable on the phone: a large portion of the work performed involves discussing claims with adversaries, negotiating invoice costs, and making a recovery of client’s repair cost dollars.

The candidate should also:

  • Possess good computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Be able to work independently, manage goals and deadlines, have good attention to detail
  • Possess excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)

The ideal candidate would also have a working knowledge of subrogation and property damage matters, as well as experience with filing insurance claims.

Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing and analyzing information on damages, identifying potential liability, and moving claims toward successful resolution
  • Gathering costing and preparing invoices
  • Corresponding with damagers / responsible parties
  • Negotiating settlements
  • Resolving conflicts and escalating urgent issues
