Eaton Research Labs (ERL) is currently seeking a CAD Designer to join our team in Southfield MI. Relocation assistance will be provided if needed.

The CAD Designer | Digital Design and Engineering will shape the future of the industry by designing products that harness the power of digital technologies to drive design efficiency, enhance product performance and open new business opportunities.

He/she will implement digital design strategies by creating CAD models and workflows to meet various business needs such as design automation, design optimization, engineering data analytics, prognostics and health management, smart manufacturing, and digital twins.

In this role you will:

  • Collaborate with design and manufacturing engineers to create CAD models and develop digital design workflows for CAD model and drawing automation
  • Streamline CAD model parametrization and standardization across product groups
  • Create and review engineering models and drawings using GD&T best practices
  • Implement automation codes for CAD-CAM-CMM model creation
  • Integrate Model-based engineering principles and best practices in components design
  • Author procedures, guidelines, and best practices as necessary, and participate in internal and external knowledge sharing sessions

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required
  • 5+ years of product engineering experience with emphasis on MCAD and experience with GD&T
  • 5+ years of experience in the mechanical systems and components design
  • Working knowledge of CAD packages including PTC Creo
  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in the mechanical systems and components design for automotive and/or aerospace
  • Experience using CAD-based programming with tools such as Creo Pro/PROGRAM and similar tools
