In close partnership with our merchant and sourcing counterparts, you’ll drive brand cohesion and continuity, ensuring that our products meet the merchant line plans, assortment strategies, price points and overall creative direction.
As an Associate Designer, Responsible Design & Strategy you’ll be accountable for supporting the integration of environmental sustainability to Owned Brand products. You will be responsible for the advancement of the Responsible Design Strategy for OBPDM, fueled by the values of Target Owned Brands. Under the direction of the Director of Responsible Design & Strategy, you will support the team in developing Responsible Design strategies, practices and goals that inspire and guide brand, product design, packaging and innovation teams. You will be accountable to Responsible Design processes, which include:
Research and Forecasting: Employing your high degree of curiosity, you will stay abreast of insights and trends in Responsible Product Design through market research and expert sources to identify specific guest needs and new sustainability strategies and then visualize and translate knowledge into owned brand products and experiences. You will work closely with internal teams to understand the current state of sustainability tactics, goal-setting, and new opportunities and serve as a critical connection point for internal collaboration.
Communication and Visualization: Your skills in research, collaboration, strategic thinking and design will coalesce into a role synthesizing information for the Responsible Design team’s complex work. Using these design and visualization skills, you will translate and integrate internal and external information into understandable and actionable materials to inspire and influence Owned Brand teams to continually deliver meaningful responsible product and packaging offerings to all guests.
About you:
4-year college degree in Design, Engineering, or related field or equivalent work experience
Knowledge or experience in Circular Design & Sustainability
Knowledge or experience in Product Research and Design
Ability to build strong partnerships in order to successfully work in a team environment
Ability to research & apply market insights information
Outstanding oral, written and visual communication skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
Curious & positive self-starter
Strong problem solving and analysis skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Proficiency in Adobe Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign), Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, SharePoint, Word, Excel) & Digital White-boarding Tools (Miro)
Comfortable taking risks, driving change and supporting creativity
A growth oriented, learning mindset and the ability to inspire others to seek and embrace change
OWNED BRANDS NO HIRE STATES:
This position may be eligible to be virtual based (also known as full-time remote) or could be ‘Flex for your Day’, a hybrid model where the team member has some flexibility to choose how and where they work to maximize their productivity and well-being, based on Target’s needs. Most of Target's HQ team members work ‘Flex for Your Day’ with a blend of virtual work and onsite at a Target HQ location. Team members work with their leader to determine how the role, team, partners and business determines the flexibility. For team members who work virtual based, they enter into a work arrangement that means the team member works full-time from home or a non-Target location, and do not have a workstation at their assigned HQ location, but may travel to a HQ site up to 4 times a year.
