Job Summary: Assists the Director of Nursing Services in the planning, organizing and management of all aspects of nursing services at the main clinic and satellites clinics. Nursing team includes 130+ nurses and medical assistants, including seven team leaders.

Essential Functions:

1. Assist in the management of nursing services in accordance with clinic, governmental, and other regulatory standards.

2. Assist in the development of departmental goals and objectives in consultation with the Director of Nursing Services.

3. Coordinate with other departments to address operational issues, formulate plans, and implement new policies/procedures.

4. Assume responsibility for nursing department in absence of the Director of Nursing Services.

5. Supervise assigned nursing staff.

6. Review and update nursing policies and procedures. Formulate new policies as needed.

7. Review and monitor work schedules, hours and duty assignments.

8. Assist with the selection and hiring of departmental personnel. Facilitate staff development and continuing education programs.

9. Oversee the nursing department orientation process for new employees.

10. Evaluate and administer staff performance appraisals. Administer disciplinary action, as needed.

11. Assist with reviewing departmental performance, and ensuring compliance with quality assurance, legal and other regulatory agencies.

12. Attend required meetings and participate in committees as requested. Facilitate department and other meetings, as needed.

13. Assist with development, training and maintenance of electronic health record (Epic) workflows as well as assisting with adherence to established workflows.

14. Coordinate the externship of Medical Assistant and Nursing students by networking and relationship building with local schools.

15. Provide minutes to meetings, as directed by the Director of Nursing Services.

16. Regularly visit and communicate with satellite nursing staff.

17. Attend bi-monthly Performance Management meetings with Director of Nursing Services. Assist with creating and implementing new nursing workflows in order to meet Salem Clinic selected Quality Metrics. Assist in ensuring compliance to workflows.

18. Oversight of the Vaccines for Children program (VFC). This includes annual recertification with VFC, preparation for site visits, oversight of VFC and Alert training for all staff. (Considerable time is also spent monitoring and running reports out of the Alert systems to ensure accurate data is being generated.) Attendance at quarterly All Marion Immunization Coalition (AMIC) meetings.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

1. Education: Degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing.

2. Must have a current unencumbered Oregon State Registered Nurse License.

3. Five years experience in nursing (preferably in an outpatient setting), 2 years supervisory experience.

4. Knowledge of the principles and skills needed to provide nursing assessment, intervention and treatment.

5. Knowledge of examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures.

6. Knowledge of medications and their effects on patients.

7. Knowledge of leadership and patient education principles.

8. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.

9. Knowledge of the principles and practices of employee development to train, delegate, and mentor staff.

10. Skill in anticipating and reacting calmly to emergency situations.

11. Skill in identifying problems and researching and implementing effective resolutions.

12. Skill in preparing records, writing reports, and responding to correspondence.

13. Skill in developing and maintaining departmental quality assurance.

14. Skill in exercising a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion, and decision-making.

15. Effective interpersonal skills and conflict resolution skills

16. Knowledge of safe work practices and ergonomics in the workplace.

17. Ability to utilize Excel, Outlook and Word computer programs and internet access. Able to type 45 wpm.

18. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, staff, physicians, and the public.

19. Ability to establish quality control standards.

20. Ability to plan, prioritize, organize and direct the work of others.

21. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both written and oral.

Pay: $90,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
