General Summary

Under the general supervision of the Administrator, the Bus Driver has the primary responsibility for ensuring the health, safety and welfare of the adults and seniors, during bus transportation to and from the center, doctor appointments, and on field trips. It is also the role of the Bus Driver to: guarantee that the bus is clean and in proper working condition at all times; determine and follow safe and efficient bus routes; maintain all transportation records required by Our Home Adult Day Care.

Essential Functions

1. Ensures the safety and well-being of adults and seniors being transported to and from the center, doctor appointments, and on field trips.

2. Completes a comprehensive written inspection of the bus daily, reporting any conditions of concern to the Administrator, or delegated staff person, before transporting adults and seniors.

3. Arranges for and ensures completion of routine maintenance of bus (e.g., oil change); transporting the bus to and from maintenance and/or repair facilities.

4. Ensures that the bus always has sufficient fuel at the end of the day.

5. In consultation with the Administrator, develops and follows efficient and safe written bus routes that ensure no adult and/or senior will be on the bus more than one hour.

6. Operates bus in such a way that road and safety regulations are always followed; reports any traffic violations to the Administrator or designee immediately.

7. Follows safe bus loading and unloading procedures.

8. Follows procedures to guarantee no adult and/or senior is left alone on bus without supervision at any time, including insuring all clients have departed bus/van at the end of every bus routes (morning, evening and during field trips or doctor appointments).

9. Keeps the vehicle clean and free of debris; follows other bus/van cleaning procedures.

10. Routinely inventories bus emergency and first aid supplies and equipment, report needs to the Administrator, or delegated staff person.

11. In the event of an accident, assures that medical emergency procedures are followed; completes a written accident report as required by delegate's procedure and other authorities.

12. Attends and participates in center in-service trainings, and other continuing education, career and professional development opportunities.

13. Driver to escort and assist clients at all times during shopping trips; under no circumstances driver to remain or wait in the vehicle.

14. Driver to follow instructions from the Administrator or designee during shopping trips.
15. Performs other duties, as assigned.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
