Accounting Clerk Job at Law Offices
Overview:
The Accounting Clerk is responsible for managing expenses related to client cases. The role ensures that all client related invoices, check requests and credit card transactions are processed timely and accurately. As part of a project team, the Accounting Clerk assists in the development and enhancement of the accounting department related functions to ensure appropriate levels of controls and accurate data capture. As new processes are implemented, the Clerk will participate in the administration and operation of newly designed or redesigned functions.
Core Responsibilities:
· Reviews requested expenses and process payment through the various payment methods including check, ACH, and credit card
· Requests expenses for certain vendors and process payment
· Maintain vendor master files and reports
· Processes payments timely and accurately per terms
· Organizes accounting e-mail to ensure prompt payment on time sensitive expenses
· Prepares and applies check, ACH and credit card information to client cases
· Ensures schedules activities are executed prior to deadlines
· Maintain electronic copies of receipts in accordance with record retention policy
· Tracks and reports vendor invoice backlog on a daily basis; assist with short term and longer-term processing changes and staffing adjustments to avoid backlog
· Responds promptly and professionally to internal staff regarding client expenses as well as helping provide payment supporting documentation
· Process monthly or quarterly reports as requested
· Assist in ad hoc projects as needed
Process Design:
Participated with other team members to understand business requirements that develop and/ related to data capture, in the following business-related activities or enhance processes:
· Development and maintenance of efficient expenses payable processes regarding client costs
· Documentation of standard operating procedures and best practices
Basic Qualifications:
· Attention to detail

· Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel & QuickBooks
· Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
Education/ Training:
· College degree preferred, college courses in accounting or equivalent work experience preferred
Experience:
· Accounting Clerk experience desired, preferably in a law firm or professional services organization
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
